The school is situated on Waterfoot Road. Newton Mearns is an affluent commuter suburb, and consequently the school achieves consistently high marks in school performance tables.
The head teacher there (at time of writing 2006) is called Mr McGinlay. The school has recently received a new extension to the building. Famous pupils include Richard Harris and Michael Pook
