Mylanthanai massacre happened on August 9 1992 when Sri Lankan Army soldiers from Punanai Army camp massacred 35 minority Sri Lankan Tamils, including 15 children, at Mylanthanai in Batticaloa District in Sri Lanka. This was a revenge attack for a landmine assault on Jaffna’s Kayts Island, in which six senior military officers, including Maj. Gen. Denzil Kobbekaduwa, were killed.
