Punjabi Shaikh and Pakistani sheikh or shaikh (Template:Lang-ur) are a branch of the Shaikhs in South Asia. The Punjabi Shaikh are historically tradesmen and involved in the business profession across the subcontinent. In Punjab, the title shaikh was given to recent converts during the Islamic rule of India and not to those of Arab descent as a polite euphemism.
