Mohammad Abdullah Ali Al Gergawi (Template:Lang-ar, born in Dubai, 1963 ) is an Emirati politician who is the Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the United Arab Emirates since 2006 and the Chairman of the Executive Office of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in the Government of Dubai. He heads the development of the UAE Federal Government Strategy and Future Foresight Strategy to achieve the objectives of the UAE National Agenda.
Al Gergawi is the Deputy Chairman of the UAE Federal Government’s sovereign wealth fund and the Ministerial Development Council. In addition, he holds other several leading positions, including Chairman of UAE Council for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Board of Trustees Chairman of the Arab Government Excellence Award, Co-Chairman of the World Economic Forum Global Future Councils, the Chairman of the Emirates Competitiveness Council (ECC), the Chairman of the World Government Summit (WGS), the Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives (MBRGI), and the Managing Director and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation.
He is also a former Deputy Chairman of the Emirates Investment Authority, former Founding Chairman of the Young Arab Leaders, former Chairman of Dubai Holding, and former Managing Director of Dubai Media Inc.
Early life
Al Gergawi was born in Dubai in 1963. His father, Abdulla Ali Al Gergawi, was a merchant in the city. He completed his primary and secondary school education in the emirate and attained a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the United States.
Political career
Al Gergawi was the Chairman of Dubai Holding until March 2017. Through Dubai Holding, Al Gergawi helped envision and launch TECOM Group, Dubai Properties Group, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications, and Family Entertainment and New Media.
In 2007, Al Gergawi was appointed Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation. He is the Secretary General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives, a charitable foundation that consolidates the philanthropic initiatives undertaken by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
