Jesensky (also Jessensky, Jessinsky, Jessensky de Gross Jessen). Family of old Hungarian nobility of Slavonic origin. First mentioned was Michael Jessensky, 1274 in Thurocz. Ladislav Jesensky died 1526 in battle of Mohacs on site of Lewis, king of Bohemia and Hungary against Osman emperor Suleyman. All Jesensky property was confiscated by Osmans; brothers Melchior, Lorenz and Balthasar Jesensky moved to Silesia and lived in Wroclaw and Swidnica. Balthasar's son was Jan Jesensky, known as Jan Jesenius, famous scientist and polititian who lived in Prague, Bohemia. Branches of family are still living in Slovakia and Bohemia.
