Deletion Sorting Project |
---|
|
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Israel. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Israel|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Israel. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Misplaced Pages:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Misplaced Pages's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Middle East.
Archived discussions (starting from September 2007) may be found at:Purge page cache | watch |

The result was keep – there's consensus that the sources on he-wiki are sufficient to establish notability. (non-admin closure) Extraordinary Writ (talk) 18:51, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

- Keep. The corresponding article in Hebrew has eleven references. Generals are very often notable. The head of a country's prison service is not a cabinet position, but is only one or two levels below a cabinet position. I added a tag to the article saying that it could be expanded with text from the Hebrew Misplaced Pages. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 19:17, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
- Keep I cannot find an exact source for this, but officers of the rank of brigadier or above have tended to be regarded as inherently notable or generally notable. PatGallacher (talk) 11:52, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- Keep. She is the head of the prison service. Lots of sources in Hebrew. Free1Soul (talk) 15:27, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

This was previously deleted on CSD G11 grounds, but was recreated and now reads nearly identically to what it read at the time it was tagged with db-spam. In the interest of giving the article and its now two-year-out-from-speedy-deletion existence, I'm listing here for community input. TomStar81 (Talk) 12:51, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

- Keep Well sourced and notable. Can see no reason whatsoever for deletion.--Geewhiz (talk) 11:47, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
- Comment. I see two problems here: Each paragraph has a header. Paragraphs should be written around an idea and section headers should integrate these ideas. While the topic is notable, the Council is not mentioned in what is supposed to be its parent, the Israel–United Arab Emirates relations. One can be fixed and does not stop me from supporting a keep, two does as this makes it into an improper WP:SPINOFF. gidonb (talk) 11:57, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

The result was no consensus. The "keep"s are all week, but have not really been refuted, and there is uncertainty whether the article can be sufficiently cleaned up. Ritchie333 10:47, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

- Weak keep. He appeared on the front page of the Sunday edition of the Los Angeles Times in an article on his work as project director for U2's The Edge (he was the featured picture; not the band). I accessed the print edition through ProQuest. There's significant coverage of him and that project in the article. See below. His work is also included in the The Routledge Companion to Butoh Performance My guess is there is probably enough coverage out there to pass GNG and NARTIST if one searches in languages other than English. I would imagine that most of the best sources on him are in Hebrew. @Throast Did your WP:BEFORE search include searching media in Israel? 4meter4 (talk) 20:24, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

The result was no consensus. The article has been moved to The Jewish cause: an introduction to a different Israeli history. There is consensus that cleanup is needed, but no consensus regarding exactly what should be done. As the author Moshe Berent is a redlink it cannot be merged to that title. Non-notable book lacking WP:SIGCOV. WP:BEFORE search yields only irrelevant results and the single source used in the article is not a review, rather just information about the book that does not verify notability. Fails WP:NBOOK. Waddles 🗩 🖉 03:27, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

- Draftify There seems to be perfectly usable references, and possibly reviews to show notability in the Hebrew WP version of the article, as judged by Google Translate. I think it's reckless nominating an article for deletion for lack of sourcing without checking the linked WP article in the relevant language. IThisdoes not seem to be an actual translation, but similar to the situationwhere people translate parts of an article from another WP without also transcribing the references. DGG ( talk ) 04:04, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- Do not delete: Added "External links" section, renamed per WorldCat -- Thanks for motivating me to add external links and adjust the title according to WorldCat. These corrections were absolutely necessary. The book made quite a splash, and Berent is being constantly invited to talk about it on high-brow shows, podcasts, YouTube channels, etc. This makes it a very notable and salient topic. --Guybas (talk) 16:22, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

- @WaddlesJP13: Please note that the Open University of Israel and Ariel University are in fact independent and reliable sources. Both provide academic reviews: the former as a lengthy seminar / discussion, the latter as a critique / review article.

- Repurpose as a mage for the author; . It's not his only book. We need coverage of alternative views. DGG ( talk ) 22:17, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
- Comment -- We cannot have an article on every book that is published. The external links appear to be links to reviews, which means there are enough sources. However, I do not know if the book is notable (if not, delete). If it is controversial, the content of the reviews criticising it ought to be covered. Otherwise it is a mere ADVERT.
