Freqently Asked Questions (FAQ)
|
Q: Why have you reduced the size of my file? A: In accordance with Misplaced Pages:Non-free content criteria 3(b): An entire work is not used if a portion will suffice. Low, rather than high-resolution/fidelity/bit rate, is used (especially where the original could be used for deliberate copyright infringement). If you believe I have made an error in reducing the image, please let me know. If there was no error is the lowering in the resolution, please keep the image reduced and keep it tagged until an administrator has deleted the larger versions of the image.
|
Q: Why have you tagged my file as {{di-bad fair use}} 10(c)? A: I have tagged it as in violation of Misplaced Pages:Non-free content criteria 10(c): The name of each article (a link to each article is also recommended) in which fair use is claimed for the item, and a separate, specific non-free use rationale for each use of the item, as explained at Misplaced Pages:Non-free use rationale guideline. The rationale is presented in clear, plain language and is relevant to each use. Meaning, provide a fair use rationale on the file description page, every time you use it on a different article. Otherwise it does not meet criteria for inclusion and it can be nominated for deletion.
|
Q: Why have you removed my image from an article because of 10(c)? A: The file does not have a fair use rationale on the file description page for why it is on that article. If you add a rationale, you are free to use the image on the article once again.
|
Q: Why have you tagged my file as {{di-bad fair use}} 10(a)? A: I have tagged it as in violation of Misplaced Pages:Non-free content criteria 10(a): Identification of the source of the material, supplemented, where possible, with information about the artist, publisher and copyright holder; this is to help determine the material's potential market value. A source for where the image was taken from needs to be specified, otherwise it will be marked for deletion.
|
Q: Why have you added {{deletable image-caption}} to an article? A: This is to notify users that the image next to the caption is a candidate for speedy deletion in a number of days due to problems specified on the image description page.
|
Q: Couldn't you just fix this image problem yourself? A: While I tag and re-sizing images, I do keep a look-out for things I can fix, rather than tag it for fixing. There is somewhere near 340,000 non-free images on Misplaced Pages, so I can't do this alone.
|
Q: Are you an administrator? A: No, I am not an administrator here. I can not protect or delete pages, move over redirects, or block users. For a full list of privileges I have, and projects where I have them, see this page. Also, if you offer to nominate me for adminiship, I will probably decline. I have had a few nominations in the past, the last being in 2006. If I ever run again, it will be a long time from now.

Sweet Adelines International
Hello Moe. Thank you for your interest in Sweet Adelines International.
The information that I recently posted regarding the organization's current activities gives readers a relevent representation of the organization as it stands today.
An accurate synopsis describing the origination of the organization follows the current information section. This particular data was gathered through years of research and anecdoctal feedback from long-term members, describing events and circumstances from first-hand experiences.
As this is approved industry information, I request that you do not alter the copy.
Thank you very much for your support. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kkirchhoff (talk • contribs) 15:35, 11 February 2007 (UTC).
- A couple of things I should discuss with you about this article and about Misplaced Pages itself:
- Don't ask people not to edit something, You don't own articles.
- Your version doesn't present a neutral point-of-view and it written in a non-standardized format for what Misplaced Pages considers appropriate.
- Where is this information coming from? You didn't provide sources and that much information needs them (See Misplaced Pages:Citing Sources)
- — Moe (Review Me) 15:45, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hello. I apologize that you misunderstood my request. Of course you have the right to edit the page, but all I ask as the Director of Communications is that your information is completely accurate and derived from official Sweet Adelines International publications, bylaws and/or historical documents.
- Sweet Adelines International is a wonderful organization with a lot of interesting information for readers to review. I simply added this content to the page, and plan to add more interesting content in the next few days. The Barbershop Harmony Society has a wonderful page on Misplaced Pages with a lot of pertinent content about their organization. Sweet Adelines International should also have the opportunity to display a wide range of information.
- I have included the information source at the bottom of the entry. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kkirchhoff (talk • contribs) 22:23, 11 February 2007 (UTC).
- Unfortuantly, we can't list telephone numbers on Misplaced Pages. As long as the official website which includes that information is listed at the bottom, you don't need to list it twice. above. I have tagged the article for {{tone}} and {{wikify}} so it can be written in the tone of an encyclopedia article. — Moe (Review Me) 22:32, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Big Boss 0
Hey Moe check out my official Big Boss 0 sockpuppet. User: Big Boss 1. Big Boss 0 00:12, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
If you have seen Big Boss 1 tell me what you think. Big Boss 0 14:54, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Although your allowed to create sockpuppets under WP:SOCK, I'm not really sure I see the point in creating a non-active account for no purpose. — Moe 23:09, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Moe check this out. I couldn't stop laughing the first time I saw this. By the way could I ask you a favor. Big Boss 0 23:11, 16 February 2007 (UTC) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsHBzYYNIns&mode=related&search=
- What is the favor you need? (I saw the video, it was alright :P) — Moe 00:15, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
As you know my e-mail account was infected with a virus. My internet company fixed it and gave me a new e-mail account. I am able to recieve e-mails but I do not know if I can send them. So could I by chance e-mail you to see if it works. I am sorry but I lost everything including the WWE HQ e-mail. I will be unreachable for the next two days and I was wondering if I could do this later. I do ask that you keep my e-mail name confidential. Big Boss 0 00:13, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- This is fine, feel free to e-mail me. — Moe 00:18, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- If you have sent an e-mail, I haven't recieved it. — Moe 00:59, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
I sent it. It should have the subject Big Boss 0. Big Boss 0 00:57, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
You sure. Double check. Big Boss 0 01:00, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sure, nothing there. — Moe 01:01, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks anyway. I'll be back in a minute. Big Boss 0 01:05, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

My trip was cancelled so I will be around. Talk to me if you feel bored or something. Big Boss 0 18:00, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
thiought of you
I saw this discussion and thought of you ;). I see you are still plugging away in your area of expertise, good for you and for the encyclopedia. Cheers, NoSeptember 06:28, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks NoSeptember. :) But the obvious solution to this is to block me for starting the trend. :p A whole lot of complaining for absolutly nothing. All I see is potentially embarrassed admin getting revenge for clicking on it, wiki looses users for these kinds of things :( — Moe 06:48, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- I too am often amazed about what people feel is worth arguing about. And we do lose users over the silliest things. NoSeptember 06:55, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Cheers. Long time no hear.
I tried to retire myself, but a troll won't let me.
How've you been? --PaxEquilibrium 23:55, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, long time, no hear :) What kept me from retiring was the vandalism or misinformation to articles I use to look stuff up for. I'm fine, how are you? — Moe 02:13, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
- Slightly frustrated. I really want to retire (and return occasionally to put a news or two), but I simply cannot while User:Afrika paprika is on the run. One time, I finally retired and he added 19 times to my user page that I "suck Vojislav Šešelj's dick". And I really can't retire knowing that he constantly keeps returning like that and harassing me. --PaxEquilibrium 13:24, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to hear your frustrated :( The only advice I can give you for retiring (like you want) is to not look at the history of your userpage if he is actively vandalizing it. Responsible users/admins will revert and block the socks whenever they start to show up, so theres no reason for you to stress. I have similar trouble whenever I try to retire or the like, my page was vandalized 7 times within the first 24 hours of me trying to leave. Thats when your most vulnerable and thats when vandals seek to attack you. My advice would to be just to stay away from the history page as much as possible. But if you have to look at the history, don't look at what the vandal said, because it will most likely make you upset (I should know, the weirdest vandalism to my userpage was a vandal saying I masturbated with a gerbil up my anus or something like that.) Just ignore them, they aren't worth stressing over. — Moe 16:13, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
