Errol Musk is a retired South African pilot, sailor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, consultant, and property developer. He is the father of business magnate ad billionaire Elon Musk.

Early life and education

Errol Musk was born in South Africa to a South African father and a British Mother.

Career

He worked as a pilot, a sailor, an electrical, a mechanical engineer, a consulting and a property developer being retiring early He was 50% owner of an emerald mine on Lake Tanganyika, which he funded by selling an airplane.

Family

Musk met Maye Musk (born 1948) when he was 11 year old and was a childhood friend before marrying her in 1970. She gave birth to Elon Musk June 27 1971 and the family lived in Pretoria. Maye worked as a dietician. Later the couple gave birth to son Kimbal and later daughter Tosca. After Maye and Errol divorced both sons moved in with their father. In a 2017 Rolling Stone interview, Elon Musk stated that his Errol Musk had done “almost every crime you can think of. It’s so terrible, you can’t believe it”.

Musk was married to Heide Bezuidenhout for eighteen years and helped her raise her young daughter Jana Bezuidenhout, a child from a previous relationship. Later in life, after splitting from Heide Bezuidenhout, he fathered two children with her daughter, his step-daughter, Jana Bezuidenhout; a 2017 son and a 2019 daughter. His daughter was born, according to The Times, when Musk was 72 and Jana Bezuidenhout was 30 years old.
