Retirement
I have decided to retire from Misplaced Pages. Whether I am able to go without editing Misplaced Pages (or not) is a different question altogether but I think it is best for everyone if I retire. Mainly, the past 2-3 months of Misplaced Pages has been a complete waste of time for everyone. People have forgotten the main reason for editing Misplaced Pages; instead 'discussions' are taking a large chunk of user contributions. Edit, then discuss is far better than discuss, then edit when by the time the discussion is over, people would have forgotten what they wanted to edit. So to stop wasting valuable time (for everyone including me), I have decided to (permanently) retire from Misplaced Pages. I will however, read any messages regarding current discussions in Misplaced Pages for the next week but I am unlikely to respond or edit any longer.

Hi
I do find these discussions somewhat superfluous, particularly the current AfD which has little merit in my opinion, but you could consider retiring for a week, for instance. Best of luck, Katzmik (talk) 12:10, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
un-archiving
Why did you "add back" the mathematics reference desk entries for December 11 with this edit? Any changes made to the section after you did that were just lost when the archiving bot was unable to properly archive the page a second time. —Steve Summit (talk) 01:55, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- Per Steve, please don't do this. Any changes you make to a transcluded archive page should show up on the main page. If you are having caching problems take a look at Misplaced Pages:Purge. Basically all you should need to do is add ?action=purge to the end of the page URL and then hit enter or the icon on your browser to access the URL. You may need to do this to both the archived page and the main page, e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Archives/Mathematics/2008_December_11?action=purge and http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Mathematics?action=purge (in this order). If you continue to have problems, that likely it's a browser problem on your side and everyone else should be seeing the correct page. To resolve a caching issue take a look at Misplaced Pages:Bypass your cache (generally holding shift or ctrl and then hitting the refresh icon on your browser should work although it depends on your browser). P.S. While not the issue here, if you want to add an older date back after it has disappeared completely off the main reference desk page then please just transclude the archive again using something like this {{Misplaced Pages:Reference_desk/Archives/Miscellaneous/2008 December 11}}. You should generally find some transcluded pages on each reference desk main page so just copy that example.Nil Einne (talk) 12:26, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- Another way of doing purge is editing your monobook.js to include a small script which puts a "purge" button at the top, alongside edit/history/etc. Feel free to pinch the one on mine (I forget who I pinched it off). Orderinchaos 23:12, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Cosmic space
The article Cosmic space has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Hi. The one citation here is broken and I'm having a hard time finding reliable secondary sources for "cosmic space," please add citations. Thanks!
While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. SarahStierch (talk) 18:00, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Locally regular space
The article Locally regular space has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
By the page creator's own admission (see Talk:Locally regular space) and my brief research efforts, the concept of a locally regular space seems to have been devised here for this article. This clearly goes against WP:GNG and WP:OR.
While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Felix QW (talk) 11:47, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
