a somali general born from the Abraine clan sub-clan of the majority populated North Gadaboursi Tribe in Zeylac in the late 1400s became one of the greatest somali warrior knowm as Ahmed Guurey or the left handed because of his use of his sword with his left hand to defeat the abyssinian Army of the king Lebne Dengel. With his victory Ahmed Guurey ruled as Sultan of the Empire of Adal (knwon today as Awdal) for 41 years over the Somali, Abyssian and Ormo territories thus converting most Oromos and Eritreans to Islam.
