Isn't the deletion project a personal attack?? Will I be deleted again for freedom of speech?

Dr Gabriel Garcia

This project can only be the ridiculous machination of WHO knows what interests, the pharmaceutical companies perhaps....???

      Dr Gabriel Garcia

There is NO need to delete Prof. Vithoulkas page as he is an authority on Homeopathy eventhough what appears on Misplaced Pages may appear like an advertisement. But that can be improved upon. I am doing some changes in the following paragraph

Prof Vithoulkas has received many international awards for his contribution to classical homeopathy, including the Right Livelihood Award in 1996 (check the www.rightlivelihood.org website),Gold Medal of the Hungarian Democracy (2000), the title of Professor Honoris Causa at Kiev Medical Academy (2000), collaborating Professor in the Medical Faculty of the Basque University in Spain (1999), in India the 'Homeopath of the Millenium' title given at the hands of the Minister of Health (2000), etc. On Google Video you can find videos from the ceremonies and the awards received.

Type "Homeopathy and Vithoulkas" on Google search and it returns 38,000 results.

Contribution of such a dedicated person should be recognised instead of deleting.

That's very well, but we need reliable sources, and none have been offered. Adam Cuerden 18:35, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
That is simply a bald-faced lie. You have been given plenty of perfectly reliable sources. --Lee Hunter 21:32, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
A Google search is not a reliable source. some of the ones below may be. I haven't looked at them yet. Adam Cuerden 23:19, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

It is ridiculous...

... to be asking for the deletion of the page of the most important homeopath alive. It constitutes a hardly well-concealed attack against homeopathy itself. The real motives for this ought to at least be acknowledged. The name and contribution of George Vithoulkas is very well known to everyone and anyone who is a student or practitioner of homeopathy. It is disappointing that, in this age and time, attempts to discredit homeopathy have to stoop to such a low level.

Why this question of deletion?

Prof. George Vithoulkas has been working for healthy, happy & creative human beings since 1960. All his articles reflecting his thoughts & opinions on these important issues. Do we not want to be more happy, creative & healthy? So why this question of deletion arises? Is Misplaced Pages running short of memory? Who are trying to delete the articles of this selfless man? How can we be sure that they are not serving the vested interests of the exploiters?

Dr Imtiyaz, Bangladesh

Absolute Keep

Absolute KeepOnly 492 references of google do not mention to George Vithoulkas. The article is well and strongly cited. PubMed, National Library of Medicine Catalog, Scirus, isinet.com Also, his surname is not common. Someone wrote about Papadopoulos. In Greece, we know that there are a few hundreds with surname Papadopoulos. But it doesn't happen the same with surname Vithoulkas. I concern this argument ridiculus. We have to be serious and careful with health and suffering of people. And George Vithoulkas has been dedicated to this. Aristos Antoniadis

KEEP THIS ARTICLE

George Vithoulkas is one of the world's leading homeopaths.

- Whole Health Now (which is one of the leading sites for information on homeopathy in the US) has a history of homeopathy in timeline form here: http://www.wholehealthnow.com/homeopathy_pro/homeopathy_1975.html It shows that George Vithoulkas' book "The Science of Homeopathy" was published in 1978. This book is available from The Minimum Price (one of the leading distributors of homeopathic books in the US) - http://minimum.com/ This website lists the bestsellers in the last 9 months (click on tab "bestsellers". Number 5 is The Science of Homeopathy - nearly thirty years after it was first published! This is because "The Science of Homeopathy" is one of the most important books on Homeopathy published since the works of Samuel Hahnemann and James T. Kent. More detailed information about "The Science of Homeopathy is available here: http://www.wholehealthnow.com/books/science-of-homeopathy.html - His books can also be found at B.Jain Books: http://www.bjainbooks.com/ which is the largest distributor/publisher of homeopathic books in the world. Roger Morrison, M.D., one of the leading homeopaths in the US dedicated his book to George Vithoulkas: http://www.wholehealthnow.com/books/desktop-keynotes.html One of George Vithoulkas most important accomplishments was the formulation of the ideas that led to the development of the Vithoulkas Expert System (VES). It is a computerized method of analysis of homeopathic cases. Information about George Vithoulkas contribution to the program is here: http://www.archibel.com/homeopathy/vithoulkas/ He has revolutionized the teaching and practice of Homeopathy by videotaping live cases and showing the progress in their treatment by using follow-up inteviews over many years in the same case. He was the first homeopathic teacher to systematically use videotapes of live cases. This teaching is ongoing at his International Academy on the Island of Alonissos: http://www.alonissos.gr/en/index.asp?p=2-15 There are numberous ways to validate the importance of this mans' achievements but I am not familiar with Misplaced Pages's methods. Someone knowledgeable can add some of these references. Gustav Degreef, M.D. (Columbia University, N.Y. 1981)

Copyvio

I'm afraid the webpage was a copyright violation. First word of each sentence was replaced with a synonym, and that's all that was changed. On the upside, a well-documented, verifiable, reliably sourced article can surely be made by all of you people who came in to defend him? Adam Cuerden 01:17, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually it wasn't a copyright violation at all. That was a BS reason for deleting the article when it became more than clear that the AFD couldn't be justified. What was claimed to be copyvio was simply Vithoulkas' official CV which of course has appeared on many web sites and would not normally be a copyright problem. I can't help but conclude that Adam Cuerden has been conducting himself very poorly in this affair. --Lee Hunter 13:33, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

keep goerge vithoulkas

vithoulkas is one of the most famous homeopath who has worked immensely for homeopathy. deleting his page would be a major shock to the homeopathic world

Only a ridiculous machination this can be, by WHO knows what kind of interests, those of the pharmaceutical companies perhaps?????

I am Dr Mahesh, practicing homeopathy in & around bangalore successfully treating over 13000 cases in just six years.Though i was graduated in a govt college i became a homeopath only after learning under George. now not only i practice but also i teach the clasical homeopathy what i learned from my teacher Prof George Vithoulkas.

He is not only my teacher but a guru for the whole homeopathic community.Right now he is the only living teacher by which world can learn homeopathy. He is the only master who teaches Hahnemann clasical homeopathy. All the teachings of him are most valuable and the only source of learning for the homeopathic students. His articals are the most important source than any other informations. His articals must be considered by everyone for the sake of survival of homeopathy.

Absolute keep

Unintelligible! Why use time working against the greatest personality in the homeopatic and possibly medical world today? George Vithoulkas work has helped thousends of patients to a better life and his books, articles and lectures brought a new and importante awareness to health personnel all over the world. Have prof. Vithoulkas for some reason stepped on biology student Adam Cuerdens toe? Stig Martinsen

THERE IS ABUNDANT EVIDENCE OF HIS WORLDWIDE REPUTATION

Deletion of this page is in fact a direct attack on Homeopathy. Misplaced Pages is supposed to be an open encyclopedia of knowledge, but this deletion serves only a narrow set of interests. There has been little time for discussion and I believe that due process was not followed.

I am traveling so I have only access to the internet to cite references. George Vithoulkas life is well documented in his biography written in German (reference can be cited). a good summary of George Vithoulkas' life and work is here: http://www.wholehealthnow.com/homeopathy_pro/george_vithoulkas.html

He has written extensively and a PARTIAL list of his work is available here: http://minimum.com/ (put vithoulkas in the search box to get the list).

Articles by George Vithoulkas have been published in a leading homeopathic journal - The New England Journal of Homeopathy: http://www.nesh.com/main/nejh/index/author.html#Thompson

A brief review of his extremely important “Materia Medica Viva” and a statement of Vithoulkas' stature are available at the Homeopathic Educational Services Website here:

http://www.homeopathic.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=HES&Category_Code=books_mm A brief review of the importance of “The Science of Homeopathy” is here: http://www.homeopathic.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=HES&Category_Code=books_method.

The British homeopathic library lists George Vithoulkas books http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/hom-inform/bookcat_v.htm The New Zealand homeopathic society reference library lists all of his books: http://www.homoeopathica.org.nz/reflib_V.html He has established an international institute of homeopathy with branches in many countries. A partial list of the institutes' websites and the countries where they are located follows:

http://www.vithoulkas.ru/ russia; http://www.vithoulkas.it/ italy; http://www.drkotharis.com/training.htm India http://www.medica.se/ swede; http://www.homoeopathie.li/Frameset.htm Switzerland I believe a criteria of prominence is also being referenced by prominent homeopaths, that is being prominent among his peers. The following are references to this. Dr. Paul Herscu has written “Homeopathic Treatment of Children: Pediatric Constitutional Types” This book is the most advanced pediatric materia medica available and includes a foreword by George Vithoulkas: http://www.homeopathic.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HES&Product_Code=HER-TRE Dr. Rajesh Shah, prominent Indian homeopathic doctor gives his comments and experience: http://www.classicalhomoeopathy.com/greece.htm Bill Gray, M.D., prominent US homeopathic doctor give credit to studying with George Vithoulkas http://www.billgrayhomeopathy.com/DrGray.html The Colorado School of Homeopathy lists his books prominently as required reading: http://www.homeopathyschool.org/course_material.html I found this material just on the intenet. There is a wealth of additional material to demonstrate that he is an internationally acclaimed healer, teacher and innovator. Gustav Degreef, M.D.

What's going on here?

An article about Vithoulkas has no place in Misplaced Pages?

I am not a particular fan of George Vithoulkas (but not because of his professional practice), yet I find it insane to even consider deleting an article about one of the most famous homeopaths in the world on grounds of... what? "irrelevance"?

Perhaps "homeopathy" should also be deleted from Misplaced Pages, on the grounds that the medical establishment in the US doesn't like it?

Clearly, I am not familiar with the intricacies of creating Misplaced Pages articles (I thought I was - my mistake). Most of all, I was not aware that "US Google" is the primary source for verifying one's importance on this planet.

However, I performed an international Google search, using the following search terms "George Vithoulkas", which yielded the following results:

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22george+vithoulkas%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a

(There was an elegant and practical Tinyurl here - it turns out it's "black-listed", so I had to remove it...)

I encourage the proponents of deletion to examine it. In case they don't feel like it, I will summarise it: there are "about 36 600" results - and, believe it or not, I perused ALL of them. And yes, ALL and every one of them refer to the homoeopath called George Vithoulkas.

I honestly can't believe this is happening.

world famous and wiki non-famous

isn't he world famous? Well this is a good reason for a complete article for George Vithoulkas. Imagine a pesron that uses web as an information tool. Misplaced Pages is his/her number one web page. How this person will think if he discovers that George Vithoulkas article was deleted? Rather suspicious I guess for the integrity of wikipedia... Deleting this article has no clear reason for me.

Keep the page alive.Mr Vithoulkas is the Hahnemann of our days.A man with many books published and lectures to many universities around the world.BBC had a fifty minutes show for him. This does not make sense. Is it an other attack to homeopathy?

I feel that there may be personal reasons, professional jealously perhaps why this page has been suggested for deletion. There is no doubt whatsoever that George Vithoukas has deepened our perspective on the materia medica and on the subtle art of healing that is homeopathy. His books on the essence of materia medica and materia medica viva bring alive our remedies, making the understanding easier. One can ofcourse disagree with the dogmatic manner in which classical homeopathy is dealt with by some homeopaths; they treat it is a holy cow and insist that it should not be dealt with by amateurs. They forget that our founders never knew what they were going in for. They experimented and shared their knowledge freely, I repeat FREELY with posterity. They also forget that tired of allopathic medicine and fed up of greedy homeopaths many of us have through self-study of homeopathy and subsequent self medication made our own lifes comfortable.I have been one of the beneficiaries of what is known as septanate mixtures in homeopathy, the founder of which was Dr. B. Bhattacharya of Kolkata. He has written a book of the same name and I cured my vertigo of 20 years with one suggested mixture, something that I was told by allopaths I would have to live with all my life. Many other homeopaths have experimented with mixtures with the idea that people should get cured and should be able to carry on their normal work during the process of healing. I for one hate the very word 'aggravation" and that it is vital in order to get cured. All said and done to each his own. Those unwilling to share their knowledge freely by pricing their books way beyond the reach of the vast majority of homeopaths or shring their knowledge for a price will automatically fade into oblivion. Love Blaise

Keep Vithoulkas page at wikipedia

Please reconsider to keep this page at wikipedia, it's been so helpul for the Homeopatic community; there is few people that really is leaving good things to the human beam an it's the case.
