Batman is a Turkish province in the predominantly Kurdish southeast of Anatolia, with a population of slightly less than 500,000. The Batman River flows though the area. The province is important because of its oil reserves and production. The oil refinery was founded in 1955. There is a 494 kilometers long oil pipeline from Batman to the Turkish town of İskenderun. Cotton is the main agricultural product. A railway line connects Batman with Diyarbakır and Elazığ. The name is short for the Bati Raman mountains.

Batman (246,700 inhabitants) is the provincial capital.

The province is also of interest from an archaeological point of view. Sights include the Imam Abdullah Dervish monastery and the bridges of Camiü‘r Rızk and Hasankeyf.
