Lexapro (escitalopram oxalate) is an antidepressant that is the newest member of the family of medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Lexapro was developed by isolating a part of the Celexa (citalopram HBr) moleculeknown as an isomer.
