Capitalisation of, e.g. "33rd government of Ireland"
My read of WP:NCCAPS is that we should not capitalise the word government in phrases such as "Leo Varadkar formed the 33rd government of Ireland". On this basis, I've moved the two pages currently titled in this manner to 23rd government of Ireland and 24th government of Ireland. That said, though I favour the lowercase format, if there's a consensus that the term Government in "33rd Government of Ireland" is a proper noun, and that it therefore falls under the exception to the naming convention, I'm happy to reverse the changes made thus far. So before deploying WP:AWB for all remaining relevant pages, I'm going to wait to see if there's any comment on these thus far. Iveagh Gardens (talk) 17:55, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
FL nomination
I have nominated Ireland women's cricket team record by opponent for featured list. I think, it is one of the topics of interest of this wikiproject. Please join the discussion on whether this article should be promoted or not. Thanks. RoboLet's chat 18:09, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
God Save Ireland
A sound file (File:God save Ireland.ogg) was added to God Save Ireland, and also to Irish Republic. I've deleted it from both because I think it is a very bad rendering of the song. Can I ask people to add their opinion at Talk:God Save Ireland#Sound file? --Scolaire (talk) 17:54, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
By "very bad rendering" do you mean the sound quality or the performance? Because the sound quality sounds fine to me.I see now that you mean the performance, and I agree that it is not a very good rendition. Additionally, it seems that this recording is identical to this YouTube video from 6 years ago by someone named "Quartetto Genovese". It's possible that this is the same person or that they simply used the same software to make it, but I'd say it's still worth looking into. Slamforeman (talk) 18:30, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Slamforeman: That is very useful information. Thank you. Actually, I didn't find it at the link you gave me (404 Not Found), but I did find it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKFs43ZeQ14. The .ogg version is not played by the same person, it is played on an electronic keyboard using sheet music bought from stringquartetarrangements.org, therefore it is copyvio. I have nominated it for deletion at Commons, and I will keep an out for it on Misplaced Pages. Thanks again. Scolaire (talk) 09:43, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
