- The above comment is in regard to Special:Diff/1116251444, but as it does not engage with the matter of Misplaced Pages norms, and instead (if I'm interpreting correctly) makes strange assumptions about who I am a fan of in the chess world (quite frankly, I don't feel strongly about Carlsen, So or Petrosian any which way), there is nothing for me to respond to. — Bilorv (talk) 21:58, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
Why "Petrosian" and not "Petrosyan?"
Per https://www.chess.com/member/tigranlpetrosyan, Tigran has always stylized his name as Petrosyan. I thought for BLP we are supposed to respect the subject's desires on matters like their name foremost. My tightness (talk) 03:37, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- I thought that "Petrosian" and "Petrosyan" are both used as romanisations of Պետրոսյան, though I should say my knowledge of language is limited. Sources including FIDE use "Petrosian". If "Petrosyan" is widely used or preferred by the subject then it could be mentioned in the first sentence as an alternate name or as a replacement for "Petrosian", but we'd need sources better than a username on a chess website. — Bilorv (talk) 18:54, 17 December 2022 (UTC)
