The Dukedom of Portland became extinct on the 9th Duke's death, though the 9th Duke's distant cousin succeeded him as Earl of Portland. The ducal seat was Welbeck Abbey, Nottinghamshire.
Portland, Victoria is named after the Duke of Portland.
Portland House is a house at Welbeck college the house is named in honour in all the Dukes of Portland
The Dukedom has also featured various Dowager Duchesses of Portland, most notably Margaret Bentinck.
