Caste Articles

Hi, I didn't write the caste articles. I just rewrote them.

Actually, there was an edit war going on between the Hindu and Muslim editors at Indian caste system. A Request for arbitration was filed (see Misplaced Pages:Requests for arbitration/Hkelkar) and some of the warring editors were banned for one year. The article on Indian caste system was in really bad shape at that time, so I rewrote and expanded it. I split the articles into following articles:

I didn't write any of the articles except Caste politics in India. The Caste system among South Asian Muslims was originally a section of the article Indian caste system. It was mainly written by User:Hkelkar and User:BhaiSaab, both of whom were banned for one year. I just split the section from the main article and created a new article.

If you feel that any of the citations is inconsistent with what is written in the articles, just go ahead and edit the article to fix it. I'll also look into the matter. utcursch | talk 04:35, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I personally don't know much about Ashraf-Ajlaf dichotomy, but the changes look fine to me. utcursch | talk 04:47, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry undid Kathanar and must have deleted yours in the crossfire.Bakaman 03:26, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
The link probably shouldnt be there. See the caste system is not even unique. It is little more than feudalism, burakumin, or any other sort of medeival hierarchy, albeit on steroids and a little harder to root out. Kings in Europe also used religious power (Catholic Church=Brahmin in this context) to justify lording it out over the serfs. In Islam, many of the figures owned slaves, and Christians also used the bible to justify slavery, yet a "christianity" cat or "Islam" cat is nowhere present on slavery. Kathanar though, is a bible-thumper ethnonationalist troll, who gets reverted 10 times a day, but is quick to call me a "fascist" for using my brain to oppose his edits. I appreciate the good faith effort you (and the guy Dishant) have undertaken to improve these caste related pages.Bakaman 03:46, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
A better idea is to not link the Caste System pages to any religion, rather to related sociological categories. I'll change the relevant categories, so that none of the religious connotations are there.Bakaman 15:41, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Or make a "Caste system among South Asian Hindus" page. That way each fork can be a page on its own.Bakaman 15:43, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Enjoy!

Edit-warring

Agoras, thank you for your correction of the Teece cite. Perhaps wrong, but that it what the source says. As for the rest, you are probably aware that this article is on the main page. Please desist from edit-warring, and join the talk page, where many editors have worked for months to get to this point, to earn consensus for your changes. If you persist, the article may be protected, and/or removed from the main page, and you may be blocked for disruption. Thank you for you cooperation.Proabivouac 03:56, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
