After Extreme's demise he was recruited to replace Sammy Hagar in Van Halen, which provoked a furious backlash among many Van Halen fans. The single album he contributed vocals for, Van Halen III, was the poorest-selling album of Van Halen's career, and he departed the band shortly thereafter. He has since formed a new band, Tribe of Judah.
