Guy is away, somewhat disillusioned. He will be back. Probably.

Terms of Service
By posting on this page you accept the JzG Terms of Service. I endeavour to satisfy good-faith requests to the best of my ability, but if you act like a dick, I will call you a dick. If you act like a troll, I will probably ignore you and may tell you to fuck off. If you want something from me, your best bet is not to demand it on pain of shopping me to ArbCom, because that way is pretty much guaranteed to piss me off to the extent that I will do whatever I can to thwart your plans. This page may contain trolling. Some of it might even be from me, but never assume trolling where a misplaced sense of humour might explain things. I can be provoked, it's not even terribly difficult. You may find, if you provoke me enough, that I will do something I later regret. Only remember, you may regret it more. I am a middle-aged surly bastard who spends his working day wrestling spammers and beating Windows with a stick, but I am capable of seeing good in the most improbable people if they don't go out of their way to make me do otherwise. This user posts using a British sense of humour and does not repress those instantaneous motions of merriment.

  • I am really not convinced I want to be a part of a project which gives any response other than "get lost" to blatant trolls like Rfwoolf. It's not even as if he is a clever troll, since he called my userpage quote a "revenge post" or some such - can there really be any tolerably-educated adult in the US or UK who would fail to recognise that quote? Will no-one rid me of this turbulent troll? Guy (Help!) 22:36, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
You have my absolute word that I never once called your userpage a "revenge post" or any somesuch. At all. You have my word. Now I am not here to refuel fire or troll or any some such, I now take my part. Rfwoolf 01:37, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
You forgot your pound of flesh! MastCell 03:15, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

This needs to be solved

I have taken the "List of Companies" problem (what to do with an entire class of articles that get repeatedly submitted for deletion en mass?) for debate to two different places. This really needs to be solved once and for all (we can't keep debating the same stuff for eternity). Would you take a look at either the discussion on the Village Pump or the relevant wikiproject? A previous nomination of yours has been renominated. - Crockspot 19:18, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Speedy or AfD this if necessary, thanks.

Donkey Rollers (Give me about five more years and I'll figure out how to tag things--I have successfully tagged a couple of attack articles.) KP Botany 04:06, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

thanks. KP Botany 04:14, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

St. Francis Xavier's College (Liverpool)

Can I kindly request my being able to edit this article again. I'm not a vandal, the previous issue has been resolved in my opinion, and I would like to continue editing - in the first instance by adding an Infobox, for example. I'm a member of the Education Wikiproject and will avoid any of the content that earlier caused that difference of opinion. Thanks in anticipation. Liverpool Scouse 18:14, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Again just to reiterate the above request. Liverpool Scouse 19:32, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Wheel warring

Guy, please stop wheel warring over that redirect. Please. Please. MessedRocker (talk) 19:27, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Interesting comment. Violetriga undeleted it (wheel-warring) when the cited arbcom case found that Violetriga does not properly understand WP:BP. I hope you have asked Violetriga to stop wheel warring as well... Guy (Help!) 23:56, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

You are deleting something without grounds and against consensus. Please stop or you will be punished for wheel warring. I find it quite amusing that you are removing the redirect while the name remains in the article! I guess that you don't quite understand how wiki works. violet/riga (t) 08:55, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

I cannot begin to describe how appalling I find this behavior by a person already under threat of immediate desysopping for precisely this kind of activity. Unbelievable. --Tony Sidaway 09:18, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Of course you can't - you are on the wrong side of consensus and will obviously be annoyed about it. violet/riga (t) 09:24, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Trolling

Characterising a good faith thread as trolling is incredibly rude Guy. You should know better. I ask that you restore it and possibly address the concerns. Viridae

At the risk of being myself branded a troll in view of my having had occasion twice in the past day to echo the criticisms/suggestions of others, I should say that I agree with Viridae. The Troll-B-Gon thing is page is cute and creative and all, I guess, and I take no real offense at your linking to it in your edit summary; I'm not one to be irked by personal attacks (and I understand quite clearly, in any event, that my comments were not trolling). It remains, though, seriously inappropriate for one to ascribe trolling to comments plainly made in good faith, not primarily because of NPA/CIVIL issues themselves, but because it evidences an assumption of bad faith and suggests that you are uninterested in listening to or collaborating with other editors, which proves rather fatal to a project that for its success depends on collegiality. As earlier, I must observe that you appear to be acting volitionally (or at least recklessly) disruptively, and, if you would do me the favor of not dispensing straightaway with this thread as well, I wonder, in all sincerity, if you might at least offer some reason for which you thought the Troll-B-Gon edit summary (and the concomitant refusal to engage other editors) to have been in any way constructive. Imagine

Given what's showing up here, near daily, it's frightening to imagine the damage you could be doing to the collegiality of the project if you weren't "...away, somewhat disillusioned."David in DC 16:48, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
