Ego death is an experience sometimes undergone by psychonauts. It can be brought on by many years of meditation or the ingestion of psychedelics such as dimethyltryptamine, psilocybin/psilocin, mescaline, salvinorin A or LSD; though some religious practices claim to do the same.
It is characterised by the perceived loss of boundaries between self and environment, a sense of loss of control, and the loss of the accustomed feeling of existing as a personal agent.
