Hi Angela. I see you've been active recently changing and not changing appropriate username at the changing username page. Could you archive, this thread, the archiving bot seems to have missed it out. (But I'm not sure whether that's because there's no, yes or no comment on the thread or just a bot malfunction). Thanks. Misplaced Pages:Facebook about to be deleted

Hi, as one of the people with a picture on Misplaced Pages:Facebook, figured you might be interested in knowing that it is up for deletion at Misplaced Pages:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Images of Wikipedians (2nd nomination). - Ta bu shi da yu 02:44, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Consensus vs. voting on local Misplaced Pages

Hello Angela,

We're trying to settle a bit of a dispute on some basic Misplaced Pages principles on the Romanian Misplaced Pages, and we're looking for some representative outside input. Please direct me to the right person I should talk to. The issue is exposed on Meta.

Thank you,
Gutza 21:24, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Classification of admins

Hi Angela. Please consider adding your admin username to the growing list at Classification of admins. Best! -- Jreferee t/c 23:01, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

  • Hi Angela and Jreferee. Why would a User page be the spot to classify oneself? Thanks in advance for any information and apologies for the question from another user. -Susanlesch (talk) 07:43, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
It's not. It was just spam sent to all admins. Angela. 13:21, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

ArbCom voting

Hi Angela, thanks for voting on my candidacy. I was wondering, is this in the wrong section? Thanks. --Deskana (talk) 10:59, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

I see you fixed it, never mind. Thanks again. --Deskana (talk) 11:00, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

AFD

I'm not sure if you're already aware, but your page on the mainspace is up for deletion. Regards, — Rudget contributions 19:35, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Your lack of participation in the deletion Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Angela Beesley (7th nom) is giving the appearance of your tacit approval of the deletion. The person proposing the deletion is claiming that he is acting at your behest by way of private communications. It would be best if you responded with a posting, to clear it up. Cheers. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 21:42, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Right... but my participation gets me accused of COI and then people start voting "keep" because they object to the fact I'm voting on it. Since I can't win either way, I'd rather just stay out of it. Angela. 00:00, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes, true, I am realizing this myself, that no matter what you say or do you are trapped. I was wondering if the whole thing was devised as a trap to maximize embarrassment to all parties involved. The irony is that you and Daniel Brandt are now linked as being on the same side of the issue, and your article is heading to the top of the list in the number of deletion attempts, with his at the top. The person who is spearheading the Brandt, and your deletion, can keep referring to your ex parte communication as your approval, and or instigation of the deletion process. A good number of the delete votes are because you are requesting the deletion, whether it is correct or not. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 00:13, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
It was deleted by Mercury, see AFD. But has since been recreated as a redirect to Wikia, upon discussion at the admin noticeboard. — Rudget speak.work 19:08, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Do you, in fact, want it deleted? Someone at the AFD said you'd made a statement, but I can't find it, and suggests you were never in contact with Durova. (which makes the existing AFD a bad-faith nomination regardless). Do you want the article deleted or not? —Random832 21:50, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Random, look. Regards, Mercury 23:30, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry to pry

Hi Ms Beesley, I remember seeing on your article page that you were romanically involved with Jimbo Wales. I swear to remembering that being on the page for quite some time, obviously not that it makes it true, ect. Was this just vandalism to your article? If so, I will make that clear and strike my comments from your AFD. Thanks,--Tom 22:43, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Of course it's not true. I don't remember there being any such thing in my article, and if there was it ought to have been very obvious it was blatant vandalism. Angela. 03:49, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
I will strike/remove my comment then and apologize. I should have removed it looking back, but I wasn't that "aggressive" against unsourced material as I am now. Cheers, --Tom 14:47, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Creeps

"Girls really love those monkeys."

Hello, Angela. I don't know if you remember me but I wonder if you ever tried to close a MySpace account. I asked for complete deletion on the day I signed up because some guy had to be blocked within less than a couple minutes, and he would not accept messages "try back tomorrow". I used the MySpace FAQ, followed their directions, and received an ack email explaining why my account "may have been closed." But it is still there. You wouldn't happen to have their phone number in Los Angeles would you? Sorry to bother you. Photo by Sister72, somewhere near Asbury Park, New Jersey where I guess some guy named Bruce Springsteen used to sing on the beach. Best wishes for the holidays and the new year. -Susanlesch (talk) 07:40, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

No, I've never contacted myspace. I expect you have to email them, not phone them. Angela. 11:45, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
OK, thanks. -Susanlesch (talk) 13:45, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

To Angela, for your photo of Saint Anthony Falls in October 2005. Hope you can accept this token of recognition. Thank you! Susanlesch (talk) 14:48, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Franz Josef Strauß

Might I ask you to take a look at the new discussion going on at Franz Josef Strauß? Yes, it is an ancient topic (the use of ß on en-wiki), but this is one of the most prominent articles in which this issue is of significance. Given your experience, your input would be very much appreciated. Unschool (talk) 01:39, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

External links to wikis

  • Hi. =) The conversation on the Heroes discussion page has continued somewhat, however I'm not sure if the points at hand are being understood by those disagreeing with the concept of external linking. If you have any additional helpful comments that may assist please feel free. =) --Centish (talk) 05:09, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

fring - Thank you

Hi Angela.

Thank you for rescuing the fring article. I am not sure what the next step would be to get the article back in wikipdia but i am sure you would be able to guide me, I would not like to do something that will get the article deleted so i hope you could help me to get this article restored. I was just reading Davids article, he wrote a great article o Israel. Thank you once again for getting this article one step closer to being restored.

regards

Removing the taint of copyright violation

Hi Angela,

In Talk:Information_overload#Revert_of_possible_copyright_violation, you made a comment on dealing with an article that included copyright violations.

A couple of months ago, I spotted a similar problem with the article on CAIR, except that it involved cut and paste jobs from several sources with both pro and anti-CAIR viewpoints. (See Talk:Council_on_American-Islamic_Relations#Major_reversion_due_to_copyright_problems for evidence).

I tried to discuss the issue, and raise it in copyright problems, but I failed to get a definitive answer on whether reversion is needed or not. I couldn't find any firm guidelines on how to deal with this kind of situation (ie whether reversion is needed or whether editing out of the offending text is sufficient).

Are you aware of any such guidelines?

Thanks, Andjam (talk) 03:31, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Complaint

Angela as usual sorry to bother you. Mr. Wales got a barnstar--twice now--from me. But I find his lack of response to be outrageous. If you happen to know a way to wake him up, please ask him to reply on his talk page. -Susanlesch (talk) 05:06, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

I expect he didn't realise you wanted a response. He's get an awful lot of messages on his talk page, so it makes sense for him only to reply where a response is needed rather than just where an acknowledging something you adding there. Angela. 10:06, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Scimitar logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Scimitar logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Save_Us_229 21:46, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

I think it's better to delete it and add a real logo (if one can be found) rather than one I clipped out from a photo. I've deleted it since the article already has 3 free images and has no need for a fair use one, especially such a poor quality one. Angela. 10:15, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Your doppelgangers

Some time back, User:Conrad Devonshire created User:AngeIa Beesley (note: that's A-n-g-e-Capital Eye-a...) and some other similar ones as doppelgangers to your account to prevent impersonation. Later, that user was blocked and eventually his user page was deleted. So there are now some orphan doppelgangers. Perhaps you would like to adopt them yourself; otherwise, would MFD be appropriate? Matchups (talk) 04:54, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it matters who owns them. I don't really care either way about them existing and MfD seems a bit pointless. Couldn't they just be speedied? Angela. 10:16, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

I'll take you up on your offer to help!

You left a note on my talk page some time ago offering help to me as a new user. Hope you don't mind...I really have tried to find the answer online... My question is what is the accepted practice for removing wikipedia tags (like advert and notability) placed by others, from an article? Should I wait for the person that put them there to remove them, or can I or anyone else remove them if the issues are addressed? Thanks. John Howell (talk) 19:42, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
