Caino (1902) by Wilhelm von Gloeden
Caino (1902) by Wilhelm von Gloeden
Wilhelm von Gloeden (1856–1931) was a German photographer living on Sicily in the late 19th century. He specialized in pastoral nude photography of the local youths, selling his prints to tourists such as Oscar Wilde. Caino (1902) is among his most famous works—an homage to the painting Young Male Nude Seated beside the Sea (1832) by Jean-Hippolyte Flandrin. Later photographers such as Cecil Beaton and Bruce Weber were influenced by von Gloeden's aesthetic.

Possible wikiquote wikilinking recruit

User talk:HouseOfScandal might be an excellent candidate to add wikilinks to a bunch of those quotes. I think they are a newer editor trying to build a user comfort level. Benjiboi 22:30, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

You sure you got the right user? He's got tons of barnstars and lotsssssss of created articles and is a Veteran Editor. - ALLSTAR 00:49, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Lol. yes the right user but I mischaracterized them as new-ish, edits I had seen on other articles led me to think they were just testing the waters but the work seems good. Benjiboi 01:59, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

RE:The message I left SatyrTN about this weekend

Shhh, don't tell him that this was the only person I could find to do the spanking.

Don't be jealous. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:36, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Okay - that made me laugh - A LOT! I just came from the weekly drag king show in Wilmington, NC, so that's just priceless :) -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 08:40, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Was Scarlet Daily (sp?) there? AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 14:48, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Tara Gone? Tara Nicole. Big girl. Huge .. tracts of land. Is Scarlet one of these girls? -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 15:52, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Maybe Scarlet doesn't host the shows anymore. I can't find a pic of her. I know Tara did alot of hosting the last few times I was there, but Scarlet use to be the head queen. Looking through this list, I realized I've seen many of them perform. I use to be a barfly, but no more. Jakki O'Knight hosts the Trailer Trash Drag Night on Thursdays at Flex in Raleigh. If you ever get a change, GO. She is the funniest thing ever and was even on Fox News during the Duke Lacrosse scandal because her cousing was the accuser. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 16:18, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
APK, there are just some pictures of yourself that you really shouldn't upload on Misplaced Pages or Commons. I am going to tag that pic of you for SPEEDY DELETE. - ALLSTAR 10:53, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
It's a side of me that I want to share with the world. Please don't delete it. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 14:48, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

That side fails WP:FUGLY. And you know we don't tolerate that. :P - ALLSTAR 17:46, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I added someone else to that list. He scared me as a child when I watched the 1992 and 1996 elections on television. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 17:52, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
We should petition the fine folks at http://www.uglypeople.com/ to devote a section for Misplaced Pages and allow us to edit it too. - ALLSTAR 18:00, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I swear, the places I run into former tricks. Last week, it was the 7-Eleven on 17th Street (realllly gay street) in Dupont Circle...today, it's the uglypeople website. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 18:07, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Scouting userboxes

I removed your userbox from the Scouting userbox listing, per Content Restrictions on userboxes that are divisive or inflammatory, specifically "Misplaced Pages is not an appropriate place for propaganda, advocacy, or recruitment of any kind, commercial, political, religious, or otherwise, opinion pieces on current affairs or politics, self-promotion, or advertising." Saying you are against the BSA and support another organization for that reason is divisive. Per the userbox guideline, this isn't appropriate. I'm not disagreeing with the meaning behind the userbox, but the delivery is the part in question. Justinm1978 (talk) 20:16, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I disagree with that assessment as almost every userbox at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Scouting/Userboxes violates that policy via "commercial" (The BSA makes money selling things), "political" (The BSA receives government money and uses government facilities), "religious" (The BSA promotes Christian-only religion and discriminates against Agnostics) and "self-promotion" (the userboxes promote the BSA and many areas of the BSA) aspects. Therefore, User:Allstarecho/scouts is no more divisive or in violation of policy that 98% of the current boxes are. - ALLSTAR 20:29, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
You're arguing a red herring and avoiding what is actually being said with the BSA boxes: Nothing in there is promoting the preference of the BSA over another similar organization. Your userbox directly attacks instead of promotes Campfire USA. Per that policy cited above, the correct way to word your userbox would be "This user supports the programs and policies of Campfire USA." No injection of political or religious bias, just simply stating that you prefer the programs of Campfire USA.
Read this sentence, and tell me how your userbox DOESN'T violate this: "Essentially: Express what you like, rather than what you don't like. Express who you are, rather than who you aren't. Express what you do, rather than what you don't." Justinm1978 (talk) 20:47, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
It doesn't "attack", it cites fact. The links go to articles and sections of articles on Misplaced Pages. - ALLSTAR 20:51, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Calling someone or something homophobic is an attack. And you didn't explain how the userbox addresses the key sentence above that I am calling your userbox divisive over. Justinm1978 (talk) 20:54, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Sidenote: Educate yourself a bit more about the BSA before making sweeping verdicts that are patently false. They've got a lot of policy problems, I agree, but they are not commercial (501(c)3 non-profit), and by that status they are specifically prohibited from being political (receiving federal subsidies and access to governmental facilities does not make an entity political), and they are not Christian-only by any means (pretty much so long as you profess a belief in a deity, you pass the religious test). As I said, they've got their problems and I wish they'd join the 21st century, but your argument here is incorrect. Justinm1978 (talk) 20:53, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Reverting vandalism

Take a look at this diff: . The reason I bring up the diff is that this is the revision you reverted to on mutualism. Please ensure you revert to good version. Thanks. Richard001 (talk) 02:14, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

I reverted vandalism by 200.14.40.202 and as such Huggle automatically reverted to the edit by another IP before the IP I reverted, which also had vandalized the article. - ALLSTAR 03:02, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

South Coast League

Take two seconds and do some friggin' research, the Jackson South Coast League team isn't gonna happen for '08 - it's listed on the South Coast League web site, as well as its wikipedia page. It's correct with the four teams. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chicken Parm (talkcontribs) 04:55, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

The team is still considered part of the South Coast League and therefore remains in the template. - ALLSTAR 05:05, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

IP?

hey, i have no idea what .net is so my question is, can a whole apartment building go to the same ip address? i'm sure i didn't edit anything unless it was a george bush page :) so please let me know if you know about the ip situation. otherwise my wife is being weird on wiki and i highly doubt taht.... she barely knows it exists??

thanks for the heads up —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.220.246.220 (talk) 06:44, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

An IP can belong to anyone unless it's one specifically assigned to you for the life of your service. - ALLSTAR 09:12, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
