The iPhone 3G was announced as a successor to the iPhone at the WWDC Conference 2008. The "improved" version of the iPhone includes a thinner body, a black plastic back instead of the silver polished back in the first version, solid metal buttons, an improved camera, a flush headphone jack instead of the deepened recessed jack in the first iPhone, and dramatically improved audio. Jobs also introduced the key improvement, 3G capability enabling 2.8X faster speeds.
