Massie Block is a character from The Clique series of novels. She will be played by Elizabeth McLaughlin in the upcoming film of the same name, which is currently in post-production and is modeled by Tsarina Merrin

Family

Massie is an only child, and lives in an estate with a swimming pool, multiple cabanas, a tennis court, a stone guesthouse (in which Claire and her family reside), a spa, a gym, a pool, and more. She lives in Westchester, New York and has a black pug named Bean and a brown horse, Brownie, which Massie rides at the exclusive stable Galwaugh Farms. She is also the leader of a clique called the "Pretty Committee"

Her parents are William and Kendra Block. William is a very successful businessman. They rarely punish Massie. In Invasion of the Boy Snatchers for example, her mother, Kendra, accuses Claire for Massie's detentions. Even when they get expelled for running off on a camping field trip they still let Massie and her friends go to the mall every day during school.

Appearance

Massie is described as having glossy, dark brown hair, shimmering and twinkling amber eyes, and a toned body thanks to Pilates. Massie's hair style changes throughout the series. In the first book, Massie has a shoulder length bob. She gets caramel-colored highlights in Best Friends for Never, and crimps her hair in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers. Massie gets hair extensions in Dial L For Loser. She also has a long shiny hair and bangs in Sealed with a Diss, though she got them in "It's Not Easy Being Mean", because It's Not Easy ends a couple minutes before Sealed with a Diss starts. In Bratfest at Tiffany's, she has long hair with a purple streak which she did not get by Jakkob but rather by herself from a streaking pen. In the Summer collection of the Clique, we soon find out that the purple streak resembles being a top-seller for her summer job, Be Pretty Cosmetics. Massie is always fashionable and has a huge walk-in closet filled with the latest trends. Her clothing style is the most fashionable out of The Pretty Committee girls, and she doesn't wear anything unless it is designer (Juicy Couture, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren etc.).

Love Life

In the first novel, Massie meets Chris Abeley, a fifteen-year-old who goes to Briarwood Academy, while trail-riding at Galwaugh Farms. She crushes on him, while thinking he likes her back. It is revealed towards the end of the novel that Chris already has a girlfriend,. She is a "disgustingly beautiful" ninth-grade girl, Fawn. Massie promptly forgets about ever liking him. She decides not to act on a crush until she knows the guy likes her back for sure.

In Best Friends for Never, she has a crush on Cam Fisher, an A-list Briarwood soccer player, but she finds out that he likes Claire and eventually decides to let Claire have him because she sees he doesn't like her back. In Revenge of the Wannabes, Massie develops a crush on Derrick Harrington (otherwise known as Derrington) and it turns out he likes her too. But in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, Alicia's cousin Nina Callas puts a phony "Spanish soccer spell" on Derrington,(as well as Cam and Josh, who are Claire and Alicia's boyfriends) making him stay away from Massie so they can win a big soccer game. But in the end, he comes back to Massie after recognizing Nina as a fraud by finding stolen items from girls at OCD in Josh's locker. Massie gives Derrington her purple rhinestone "M" pin after the losing soccer game because he didn't win his MVP pin. And Derrington gives Massie the Cupid Award that he and Nina won at the LoveStruck Dance because he thought it belonged to her.

In The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, Massie lies about her love life to the members of Massie's Underground Clinic for Kissing (MUCK), trying to prove that she has more experience in relationships and kissing than Nina Callas. But when Derrington finds out that she has all this experience, thinking she cheated on him with another guy because Massie and Derrington never kissed, he throws the "M" pin that Massie had given him down in the dirt. To get her boyfriend back and to prove to the MUCK girls she had experience, Massie planned to kiss Derrington in front of the girls with Claire's help. The plan works out perfectly and Massie tackles Derrington to the ground, sharing their "first" kiss. In It's Not Easy Being Mean, Massie is desperately looking for the key to secure her 8th grade popularity and looks in Derrington's room, since Skye Hamilton kissed him (Massie says he didn't kiss back though). But when she looks in his room she discovers Derrington is a total slob and wants nothing to do with him. Later in the book, Derrington is trying to show Massie pictures of something but Massie keeps ignoring him. Eventually, when she looks at the pictures, Massie discovers that Derrington cleaned his room for her, and they are back together again.

In Sealed with a Diss, Massie and the rest of Pretty Committee spy on the boys during a secret class (ESP). Massie wants to take him to Skye's party, but finds out Derrington has an "issue" with Massie, so she becomes overly stressed about this. Skye wanted them to have dates that are A-list and Massie thought that Derrington was too immature because he always wiggles his butt to show how he feels.Which ends in a disaster for her. In the end Massie finds out his "issue" which is ironically that he thinks Massie's immature. He sees Massie at a party of Skye's with Chris Abeley, when she was actually trying to set Chris up with Skye in a deal. But Chris ends up falling for Massie. Derrington breaks up with Massie and the Pretty Committee decides to never date boys thereafter. Little do the know how hard that will be, because the Briarwood Academy boys will spend their next year at OCD after a water main burst that ruined the school, because Layne and the Pretty Committee accidentally burst open a water pipe when trying to fix the video camera for the 'room', meaning Massie's alpha status is in serious jeopardy.

In Bratfest at Tiffany's, Massie declares a "boyfast", meaning no member of the New Pretty Committee shall flirt or crush on a boy. Especially not the soccer boys who did them wrong in the previous book. Unfortunately, Massie finds it hard to stick to her own law when her path crosses with the former LBR, Dempsey Soloman, a non-soccer playing H(awt) A(lpha) R(ich),and T(oned) with an obvious crush on her. Massie secretly likes Dempsey Solomon but swears that their relationship is strictly business. In the end of the book, the boyfast finishes, but whether Massie will go after Dempsey remains unknown. She wears anything that reflects light as a secret code to "sparkle and shine" in the year.

It is rumored that in the next book, P.S I Loathe You, Massie will play matchmaker to some of her friends, and a few LBR's, notably a drama freak named Kyla, who she tries to get together with her long time crush, Robert. She grows overconfident after successfully setting up Ashleigh with Mac, and Lauren with Lauro. She has a harder time with Kyla and Robert. Robert is noted for being attention-crazed, which only attracts Kyla to him more. Massie at first fails, but then takes credit when Claire makes Robert realize how much he likes Kyla. After failing to set up Dylan, Massie gives up on matchmaking for the time being.
