The Armenian Stock Exchange is the principal stock exchange of Armenia. It is known as Armex and is located in Yerevan, the capital city. The stock exchange began operations in 2001. As of April 2007 the Chairman of the Armex Observers Board is Yermonya Vardevanyan. In 2007 it was purchased by the Swedish OMX Group that also operates seven other stock exchanges in the Nordic/Baltic region.
