She won five singles titles during her career on the WTA Tour. The righthander reached her highest career ranking on July 9, 1984, when she became the number 8 of the world. Her best Grand Slam finish were two quarterfinals at the US Open, in 1982 and 1986. Before entering the world of professional tennis, Gadusek was an aspiring gymnast; however, a broken neck prematurely ended her dreams of gymnastic glory and she turned instead to tennis.
