Croatia is a beautiful country with a well developed tourist industry, particularly along its extensive coastline. Several companies run flotillas of yachts along different stretches of the coastline, which is also popular with divers. The interior of the country, with the exception of the capital Zagreb, has fewer tourist attractions. Eight areas have been designated national parks, and the landscape in these areas is afforded extra protection from development.
Principal tourist attractions include:
- Zagreb;
- the Kornati National Park;
- the fortified city of Dubrovnik;
- the Krka waterfalls, part of the Krka National Park;
- the Plitvice Lakes.
When to visit Croatia
The time period from April to October is considered the best time to visit Croatia. Summer temperatures can reach up to 100°C, while surface water temperatures amount to a pleasant 26°C. July and August are considered the most frequently visited period due to various entertainment facilities and events for young people, while for those looking for different and more peaceful ways of spending their holiday Croatia also has a lot to offer. Spring is characterized by pleasant, mild weather accompanied by rare, short showers, while early autumn is ideal for those looking for a tranquil holiday. Out of high season, the beaches are not crowded with bathers and accommodation prices are significantly lower, while the weather remains stable.
We recommend traveling along the Croatian coast throughout the entire year. Winter is characterized by somewhat colder weather. Due to the Mediterranean climate, winds can be somewhat stronger and unpleasant, although temperatures rarely drop below zero.
