IP vandal 69.251.134.27

Greetings. This anon user has did it once again. As I told you yesterday, he keeps changing the Chris Barnes (bowler) article content from verifiable, sourced info to false information out of spite. He was blocked by you for 48 hours and once he was no longer blocked he did it again. I Level 4 warned him for doing it and let you know about it. You told me to let you know if he did it again... Today he did it again,. He is doing this for spite and is not showing any interest in improving the encyclopedia. What should my next course of action be? Thanks -Pparazorback (talk) 00:42, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Blocked him for a week, friend. Scarian 00:45, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll level 4 warn him again in about 8 days :-( Unfortunately, I don't have any faith that he'll cease and desist. -Pparazorback (talk) 02:19, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
One week is a decent amount of time. Next time he does anything naughty I'll go to a month :-) Don't worry, man; this is Misplaced Pages! Scarian 02:22, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Champion Pat. I agree one week this time and one month if necessary next time. I understand your annoyance Pparazorback but the blocks will escalate if the IP continues. Hopefully they will realise there are many eyes a-watching and they will become good editors or go and find another hobby.--VS 13:11, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

You have mail.

I've sent you can email. :) Bidgee (talk) 13:23, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Category:Misplaced Pages sockpuppets of Dan Equaliser

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. In the case of a category like this one, parent categories are provided automatically when you include a {{Sockpuppet category}} template.

I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 17:28, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Maasai

I am not yet done repairing vandalism to this article, which I have invested a bunch of time in since a trip to Tanzania three years ago. Would it be possible to "lock" this article so that the random users, who often seem to work as teams? can't keep messing it up? If I'm not constantly on top of it, things quickly get out of hand. If I have to talk to someone else, please let me know who I have to contact. Thanks. Steve Steve Pastor (talk) 21:14, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

  • You've come to the right place Steve - but sorry we need to see more vandalism than that (there hasn't been anything for 4 days) and the rules of protection stipulate that we cannot protect preemptively (except for some special pages from time to time). I have placed Maasai on my watchlist and will monitor should protection become necessary. You should also feel free to come here if I miss the situation getting out of hand again. Best wishes.--VS 00:15, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Is it legal to ask you to look at a discussion even if it's on a mediation page with privileged communication?

Hi Hi, VirtualSteve, i'm at my wits'~end, and i couldn't think of anybody better than you of whom i could ask a complicated question. I am having a problem but it has moved away from the articles which were locked down, migrated away from the TalkPages of those articles, and the problem is now careening into the formal Mediation page. I am getting more familiar with policies and principles, but this is the first time i've done anything formal, and i am uncertain what is proper or improper when mentioning Mediation because the communications are supposed to be privileged. You were the administrator who did the most to help handle the technical parts of this situation (during the months before formal Mediation) so i wanted to know whether you are still watching the progress, or whether you are staying away from the Mediation entirely for some reason of neutrality or privacy. If you can't discuss this stuff openly because of sensitivity to people's rights to privileged mediation, maybe you could email me instead. But if you are able to comment openly, would you please be able to take a look at our formal Mediation page and tell me whether i am right in thinking there is a serious obstruction of procedure going on, and "gaming the system" should be discouraged when neutral administrators observe such? I'm not doing any further edits anywhere near there, because i have lost all perspective of whether this is proceeding correctly, and i will not comment or involve myself with those contentious articles or editors unless you verify that i am doing this correctly. I really want to avoid making a problem even bigger. Thank you for checking my most recent contribs, or i can give you diffs in private if you need them. I wish you a pleasant weekend. ~ Teledildonix314 ~ ~ 4-1-1 ~ 08:42, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Hello Tele - not illegal at all for me to be asked to have another look. I have a training program all day today (on a Sunday would you believe) but when I get back I will look in further detail (I have been watching but not for the past 2 days in great depth due to other committments) and either respond here or via email. You are doing the right thing if you are continuing to refuse to be drawn into making inappropriate edits.--VS 20:48, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank you so much. I've officially withdrawn from that mediation now anyway, so that's the last you'll hear from me on the topic, although i imagine the situation over there will very much continue to benefit from your neutral administrative perspective. I've learned a lot, you've helped in all of that, thanks. ~ Teledildonix314 ~ ~ 4-1-1 ~ 04:12, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Well done on withdrawing. There are plenty of other pages on Misplaced Pages which will pique your interest and do not have the added baggage of a long and drawn out dispute.--VS 03:01, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

User:Redking7

Sorry to be dumping this on you but don't have much time to file a 3RR but Redking7 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) has continued to undo edits (, and ) when they have been told to get a consensus and have also been warned. Also with their latest edit summary they used normal edit when it was clearly not and the editor can say they know nothing about edit warring. I'm off to rest. Vandalism

70.26.137.47 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) new user, obvious vandal, but not persistant and hasn't been given warnings. This (originally posted on Misplaced Pages:Administrator intervention against vandalism) might not be the right page for me to report it. If not, then what is? - Shaheenjim (talk) 02:07, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Provide a warning first Shaheenjim - then more warnings as necessary, then we can do something about it here.--VS 02:12, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Are regular users supposed to provide the warnings themselves, or get admins to do it? And if admins are supposed to do it, then to which page should I go in order to alert an admin that someone needs a warning? - Shaheenjim (talk) 02:48, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
The former Shaheenjim - you are entitled to warn another editor for vandalism etc but you should be very careful that you are warning an editor for the correct offence. Also you should note that every editor is entitled to remove a warning after it has been posted - and can do so without further comment. This page will assist you to find the correct warning templates: warning templates. I hope that assists; please drop by again if you need further advice.--VS 02:59, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Derry

Not sure what the go is but an IP (78.144.97.213 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)) seems to be rather unhappy and vandalised your userpage and also posted a rant on the talk page of Derry. Just having a short break with some study at TAFE and thought I'll inform you. Bidgee (talk) 03:20, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Vandalism

Hi there STEVE, VASCO from Portugal here,

I was about to reach for the help of Kevin, but found out he grew tired and quit (although i am not an admin, and don't intend to man, i more than often feel that way),

There was an anon contributor, whom worked (works) solely on AEK Athens FC (Greek soccer club), also tending to insert plenty of false info on player pages and removing useful/true info, especially in infoboxes. Thus, i filed this report (http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#Anon_vandal), which resulted in those four pages being protected by Lectonar (i have already tipped him about this new "surge").

This person now has registered, under the account Georgios21 (http://en.wikipedia.org/Special:Contributions/Georgios21, i am not 100% sure it his him, but 99,99999999%, as they continue to operate almost solely on [[AEK Athens players) and, at least in Arnaldo Edi Lopes da Silva (he plays for AEK), has proceeded to alter things around (http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Arnaldo_Edi_Lopes_da_Silva&action=history - in an incredible move, he inserted AEK player profile, to confirm player height, which i accepted duly, but that same profile also shows player was born in 1982, and he changes it to '83!!). I also told him, in his talkpage (http://en.wikipedia.org/User_talk:Georgios21#Edinho), what is expected about this player's article, but am not very hopeful as to what the outcome will be. It should be also noted that this user, whether as anon or registered, does not write one single edit summary.

Ty very much in advance, have a nice week - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 19:31, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Vasco, I have read through this editors contributions and will be watching his page for any further transgressions. Thanks for stopping by - please return whenever necessary.--VS 21:06, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  • Thanks for your input, Steve. However, this edit which you reverted (http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Arnaldo_Edi_Lopes_da_Silva&diff=279234340&oldid=279211204), was actually good, i believe. Since he seems, in the full extent of the word, a fanatical of this ball club (AEK Athens FC), i guess i'll take his word when he (even without edit summary) updates stats. The other stuff, removing accurate symbols such as loans or mess around with national team stats, height and age, i have more problems accepting ;). Anyways, like yourself, i will also keep a close eye on this (these?) matters.

Ty very much, Vasco Amaral - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 22:10, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Found something much more serious about this "user", Steve: it's kind of extreme, at least here, here and here, false info has been inserted (players were, because GEORGIOS says so, called to the olympics squads...templates are THAT EASY to change!), i checked the tournaments wiki-articles, which then led to official match reports, and it's nothing but utter lies what this chap inserted.

Cheers, take care, Vasco Amaral - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 22:38, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
