Denefield School is a comprehensive secondary school located in Tilehurst, Reading, Berkshire, England. The headmaster is Mr Glyn Whiteford. The school was founded in 1976 and opened with 180 students in Year 7. Since then Denefield has continued to grow, with approximately 1,200 students attending during the 2005-2006 school year. The school became a grant-maintained school in 1992, and was awarded a specialism as a Technology College in 1994. In 1999, Denefield became a foundation school and in 2004 achieved training school status.

The latest OFSTED report from 2005 described Denefield as a 'good school with some features', however in 2009 it was put on special measures as it was found to be inadaquate.

The poor OFSTED report has led to many so called 'chavs' favouring this school due to a prevalent gang culture and certainty to fail in the exams.

Building

The original school building, although only meant to be temporary, is still standing today. The council's decision was to blow up the school with potassium nitrate by 2010.

The school features many other buildings. Like a newly built maths block with significantly copies that of the Maths Block at Little Heath School. One main building that im sure will win building of the year is the VIth Form block (VI meaning 6). With the building being an exact copy of Little Heaths Portakabins (which will shortly be knocked down and forgot about) there is a nice lick of green paint to represent the fact that the majority of Denefield spend most their time smoking green (weed, cannabis etc.) Also featured on the illustrious block is a carving next to one of the doors used which signifys that of the worst enemies to the Denefield Territory.
