The Sarlacc was greatly feared because it took 1000 years for it to devour its victim. Boba Fett fell into the Sarlacc's mouth, but escaped with permanent wounds as he was already partly digested him, although they were not serious. Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca and Han Solo were going to be fed to the Sarlacc, but they killed Jabba the Hutt and escaped.
