Question about Sahil Lavingia

I do not understand why I cannot create an article about Sahil Lavingia. Should I remove the refs or point to better, more well-known publications? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slavingia (talkcontribs) 07:18, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that sounds good. I'm not sure if I am using this Talk feature properly but that works. How would I go about proving my notability? Thanks again! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slavingia (talkcontribs) 07:24, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! One more question: how does this user page later become a Misplaced Pages article? Should I alert you or will it automatically become one once it is ready? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slavingia (talkcontribs) 07:29, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

What do you think of the Sahil Lavingia article so far? I'd love to know how to improve it as much as possible (I'm trying my best!). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slavingia (talkcontribs) 08:03, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Haroon ur Rasheed / reverted Model Town Humak page

There was no Misplaced Pages article on a famous Pakistani columnist Haroon ur Rasheed, so I thought to take this initiative and created a page for him. But you deleted that page within few minutes. Yes, it was just created and at that time 'article had no meaningful, substantive content', but you did not let others to contribute!

Dear PMDrive1061, you also reverted my edits in Model Town Humak. Now, I am very curious about your explanation. I am native of this town, yet you reverted my edits. You have even reverted a spelling correction of word 'gazette' by me, it was spelled 'gazzette'. Please explain.

I would appreciate if you could reconsider your actions in aforementioned regard.

Thanks Chjohnny (talk)

Chasing the Sky Deletion

So I've been trying to create a page about a local band I've been following, which you've deleted. This band is pretty important in our community and have been involved in a lot of philanthropic causes since their existence. I've cited sources including our local press, several music magazines, and an emmy award winning radio host's show (on which he's praised this band many times). Any reason for the deletion?

Chuck's Pit Rats

Hi PMDrive1061, The Chuck's Pit Rats article could be considered unique in it's standing, as it features a number of current and former NHL coaches and players, all within the same family (Leach).

Would it be acceptable to reoprn it with the sentance: 'This team is unique because it showcases a New England family with extensive ties to hockey and the NHL'  ?

Merry Christmas!

Mickey Burns - TV Host

Dear Editor:

I thought I could use the text Mr. Burns wrote for Missiouri Valley College as he had given it to me and had permission from Missouri Valley. I'd like to repost his page using a different narrative, but with the same likes to articles and websites I had before. Please let me know if this is okay, thanks.

RSVP Gallery

Hello, why was the page deleted? Its importance is that it is one of the only stores in the world to carry the select merchandise similar to http://en.wikipedia.org/Colette_(boutique) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Respondplease1 (talkcontribs) 06:48, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

I understand how that may be perceived but I am not a representative or the company. I had just made my account the name of the shop to simply start this wikipedia page. I have had prior experience to wikipedia and have donated over $300. I do not understand how it is not notable, please review again as it is a very large store which is one of a kind. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Respondplease1 (talkcontribs) 06:52, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

How may I reupdate the site with third-party links to show its nobility? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Respondplease1 (talkcontribs) 06:55, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, I appreciate your help. Hopefully this time I may prove its nobility! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Respondplease1 (talkcontribs) 06:59, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I understand why Misplaced Pages would have such a concern. I have added new and relevant information with many references. Please review! http://en.wikipedia.org/RSVP_Gallery

But Knokout, a band he was in, has a Misplaced Pages page, so why can't he? — Preceding unsigned comment added by NovemberRules (talkcontribs) 07:43, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Not all bandmates have Misplaced Pages pages, NR. The band may be notable, but individual members may not be, since notability isn't hereditary. —Jeremy 07:50, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Eskay

I'm a internet rapper and I need help building my wiki, I've tried at least 3 times in the past few days and I keep getting deleted

It's because Misplaced Pages is not a promotions agency for non-notable artists. Please read WP:General notability guideline for more information on what Misplaced Pages editors consider as evidence of notability - anything with less will generally get deleted. —Jeremy 07:50, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Question about deletion

I am curious as to why a page I created, DesignChat, was deleted. I believe that it is a significant topic and certainly worthy of a page. I am not intending to use this as an advertisement, is there anything specific I am doing incorrectly? Any advice you could give me would be appreciated.

Thank you,

James — Preceding unsigned comment added by JamesGGray (talkcontribs) 03:41, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Why did you delete my page on slender man?

I read that it was deleted because it was a recreation of a deleted page, however those pages were deleted for advertising so I took it upon myself to make a proper page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dankri (talkcontribs) 22:02, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Page deletion: Maja Jantar

Thank you for your expedient and diligent work to keep Misplaced Pages a solid information source. A few moments ago, I posted an article on Maja Jantar. This article was deleted moments after it was posted due to copyright violation. I am surprised by this, since I am not only the co-author of Maja's wikipedia entry but also one of her collaborators with my own active Misplaced Pages page (Angela Rawlings). Is there a possibility to have Maja's biography reinstated on Misplaced Pages? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Commutiny (talkcontribs) 19:44, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Copyright re: Maja Jantar's page?

Thanks for your quick reply! I hope you don't mind that I seek a little further clarification. I understand that a sample of this text would appear on other websites when Googled. This is because Maja and I developed this text together, and it is currently used as the primary biographic information available online. All instances where it occurs is as a copyleft text. Misplaced Pages is the most far-reaching source of encyclopedic information, and as such I should think and hope that it would be in the website's interest to include up-to-date information about artists, even if there are replications of this information available elsewhere online (replications that, I might reiterate, are copyleft as assigned and distributed by the authors of this material). My intention by placing Maja's biography here is to begin a primary online source through Misplaced Pages that I may keep updated and develop. I hope you'll forgive my confusion in needing to state again "in my own words" something I have already written "in my own words." Of course, if that is the only way to satisfy inclusion, I will rearrange the syntax, replace some of the diction, and include other examples from Maja's career. I look forward to your response. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Commutiny (talkcontribs) 20:08, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Re: Maja Jantar's page

Wonderful! Huge thanks for reinstating the page, and especially for your work in ensuring quality and copyright of Misplaced Pages material. Great to know someone is checking this material so quickly. Out of curiosity, how does someone get a job like yours? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Commutiny (talkcontribs) 20:37, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)If by "job" you mean checking for copyright violations and other problems with Misplaced Pages, anyone can do that, and you are more than welcome to do so yourself. We can always use more new page patrollers. If you mean being able to delete things, block other users, etc, that is a function of administrators, users who are selected by the community and granted access to tools that facilitate these advanced functions. There's no money involved. Misplaced Pages has hundreds of thousands of users, several thousand admins, about thirty bureaucrats, and an arbitration committee, all volunteers. The Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit entity that supports and co-ordinates all of this, does so with less than fifty paid employees. It's really quite amazing when you think about it. Deletion of Wiki page

Hello, my Wiki page for 38DD was deleted for not explaining the significance. The reason i made the page is because I am from Wisconsin, and i am proud of the music that comes from here. I just want other people to be abl to find music from Wisconsin so they can hear our sound. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Diversity8 (talkcontribs) 20:46, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I'm afraid that simply is not what Misplaced Pages is for. We record information on notable subjects that has already been reported on by reliable sources elsewhere. There are many other free websites that are happy to host content not suited for Misplaced Pages, click here to see a partial list of them. Beeblebrox (talk) 02:09, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Hows he not noteable enough? he's been on tv twice... theatre 4 times... and he's releasing a single in 2011!!!

Emmerdaleguru (talk) 01:56, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Please read WP:BIO and WP:UPANDCOMING. "he's been on tv twice... theatre 4 times... and he's releasing a single" does not constitute a claim of notability sufficient to get one into an encyclopedia, even if he's been on hushed reverent pause Emmerdale! --Orange Mike | Talk 02:04, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

El Patrón

You protected this page from creation and a version has now been created at El Patrón (album). Given that the album has been released and appears to have charted I don't think the G4 applies. The move has been started as a requested move but as it's totally uncontroversial I'm asking for it to be unprotected and then moved. As a slight aside is it normal to indefinitely protect an article like this from creation. I'd have thought protection until it's release or shortly after would make more sense as things often change drastically then and it's a general principle that protection should be for as short as required. Dpmuk (talk) 11:34, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Cheers. Move now done. Dpmuk (talk) 15:28, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Malthouse Engineering

Hi PMDrive1061

I believe you have just deleted my entry about Malthouse Engineering for being copyrighted material. I work for malthouse engineering and we own the copyright of the copy and we are happy for it to go on to wikipedia.

I have read the guidelines for entering content onto wikipedia and im keen to point out that this is not an advert for the company, its our history. Malthouse have played a significant role in the development of Oldbury and the local community and we have had a significant impact on a number of other communities through our charitable and community work and this is detailed in our history.

We are keen to preserve what we have done and have sent a number of copies of our history to local libraries and schools. However paper based books are easily outdated, lost, binned which is why we have come to wikipedia to digitalise our history so it can be prolonged.

Is it possible for the Malthouse Engineering page to be reetered on to wikipedia please?

thanks for getting back to me.

It sounds like i need to re-write the content to include references from third parties and make it less "we are amazing" and more neutral which shouldnt be an issue.

however i wanted to check a few things.

1. along with third party references can we reference our own site which may have more information about something for example if i mention a community project on wikipedia could i like to our site which would have more info?

2. is there a rule about the range of other sources used for example the majority of the references would come from our trade association and one or two others is this a wide enough range?

3. is it possible to check an article meets the wikipedia criteria before i put it on wikiepedia as i got this message

This is your last warning; the next time you create an inappropriate page, you may be blocked from editing without further notice

and i dont want to risk being blocked from editing because ive mistakenly done something.

thanks

The Festival of Sleep Day

Hi PMDrive1061,

I noticed that the page I created on The Festival of Sleep Day was deleted (http://en.wikipedia.org/The_Festival_of_Sleep_Day) and categorized under a hoax. This is not a hoax or a made up holiday so I was wondering why it was deleted? I have taken an interest in unique holidays and noticed there was no page on the Festival of Sleep Day, so I chose to add one and am surprised that it was deleted. I included references that discuss this holiday, and there are many people on social media outlets who celebrate Jan. 3. If you could reconsider the deletion of this page, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

It would have more content, but a template error occurred. I need to keep the page up for the time being so the author of the template can fix the error. I can't shift to a sandbox because the template draws from the page name, so I need to keep the article up until he can get around to examining things. Abyssal (talk) 17:29, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
