Re: Cricket graph stats
Actually, cricinfo does give a full list of a player's innings, courtesy of a nice database called StatsGuru. Search for a player gives a whole lot of options as you will see, but I just click on 'batting formats', 'innings by innings list'. Here is the list for Don Bradman. Another great site for cricket stats is HowSTAT.
I make the graphs using Microsoft Excel. I copy the StatsGuru list into a .txt document using notepad, then open it up using Excel. Then it's simply a matter of using formulae to calculate the sum and average of the last 10 innings, then placing them on a chart. Raven4x4x 10:33, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
Sources
Hi, thanks for all the cricketbio-stubs you've added lately. I realise this might come a bit late, but I wondered whether you could bother to add a link to cricinfo or a similar site for players - doesn't have to be fancy. It helps the credibility of the article - see WP:V. See Adam Hollioake for an example of how you can do it. Thanks! Sam Vimes 22:58, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, thanks for all the stubs, and thanks for putting Cricinfo links on some of them now. In future, if you want, you can just use the cricinfo template, like this: *{{cricinfo|ref=england/content/player/14244.html}}.
- Another thing that would be useful is to put {{cricketbio-stub}} on the bottom of the articles. That labels them as stubs and also puts them in Category:Cricket biography stubs.
- Thanks very much for your contributions.

I think that, as with all people whose native languages don't use the Roman alphabet, there are a number of transliterations to the Roman alphabet that may be used. We have a similar issue with Ganguly. As long as we have a redirect, I see no problem, jguk 19:27, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
Sources for Dave Mohammed
Hello, good work on Dave Mohammed, and thanks for the contribution. However, you did not provide any references or sources in the article. Keeping Misplaced Pages accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. Can you list in the article any websites, books, or other sources that will allow people to verify the content in Dave Mohammed? You can simply add links, or see WP:CITET for different citation methods. Thanks! Lupin|talk|popups 04:03, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

I must confess, I'm really awful at citing my sources. This was sort of on my agenda, I was going to add all of these cricketing names and then add a link at the bottom afterwards when I ran through them again which basically said the following:
The one thing that confused me about the sourcing at the time, was that I'm sure way back when we had a template for Cricinfo sourcing, but I cannot recall what it looked like.

Re: Alfred Sorongo Luseno
Hello Bobo, thanks for your message.
I agree with you that it should be Alfred Luseno. I decided to be bold and I've gone ahead and moved the article (leaving a redirect from Alfred Sorongo). I hope that's OK!

Greig/Grieg Williamson
Tee hee, you created Grieg Williamson and Greig Williamson two days apart! Maybe you could merge them at whichever name is correct, and create a redirect from the other one? When you get round to it — no hurry. Thanks. Stephen Turner (Talk) 15:55, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Delron Buckley
Hello. I know you created this article, maybe you could help me to work out the right thing to do. On the English Misplaced Pages, Delron Buckley is indicated as being a South African soccer player. But on the German Misplaced Pages, it appears to imply that he is also a German soccer player. I was just going to translate the article through from the German Misplaced Pages, and thought this might pose a problem.
Does this indicate that he is of dual nationality, or is this merely a mistake on the English Misplaced Pages? Thank you. Bobo192 07:38, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry, Punk, I just came back from wikibreak and saw this...Buckley's South African, see Yahoo's profile on him. He's a German soccer player inasmuch as that he's playing for Borussia Dortmund right now, but he played for South Africa in WC2002. RasputinAXP talk contribs 12:24, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- As far as I know there are no mistakes in the English version. I think he is categorized as "Fußballspieler (Deutschland)" because he, having lived in Germany since 1994 or so, is not counted as a foreign player anymore. On consideration I decided not to include him in the German footballers category. He's not quite Otto Addo, if you know what I mean.
- The article is already translated from the German version, so there's not really much important to add I reckon. Instead check out the stubby Christian Wörns, and Sebastian Kehl who doesn't even have an article :) Punkmorten 17:04, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
On reflection, it's probably best not to include him in the German footballers category. However, I do agree that it's useful to include him in the German Misplaced Pages under German footballers for categorization purposes. To include him in the South African category seems best here. Thank you for clarifying this.
As for Christian Wörns and Sebastian Kehl, I'm certainly going to get to work on these very soon amongst the other articles on my creation list. Maybe I'll get going on these next. Thank you for recommending these, I'm on the case. Bobo192 18:12, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, that was Punkmorten, I just keep an eyeball on his talk page for AfDs when the two of us discuss them. Glad to have been a help, though! RasputinAXP talk contribs 18:25, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Many thanks for your contributions, Bobo! Punkmorten 18:26, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
AFDs is a point and a half which I hadn't considered. Are these German players notable enough to appear on the English Misplaced Pages? In my opinion they are, but I don't know. I'm going to continue with this work anyway, if nothing else it helps with my German>English translation, which is getting slowly better, so..
Do you have any thoughts on this? Bobo192 18:30, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Professional footie players are notable and I'd see no reason for them to come up for an AfD. RasputinAXP talk contribs 20:33, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
I stumbled across a couple of edits of yours (some old). You probably didn't know at the time, and may do now, but just in case you don't:
- Don't include born and died in the opening bracketed dates. All that goes in is (] ] dash ] ]). Born is only used if they are still alive.
- The location of their birth and death is never put in those brackets, only in the body of the article.

Albert Beier
Hello.
I'm the author of the german article about A. Beier. I was a little bit suprised, that there's now also an english article. There's one mistake in your article: However he was not able to achieve another cap for the German national team. Albert Beier plays at all eleven times for Germany, but he cant establish 1924-1926, because the three matches, after the 1:1 against Switzerland, that he played, were lost:
29.03.1925 Niederlande - Deutschland 2:1 21.06.1925 Schweden - Deutschland 1:0 12.12.1926 Deutschland - Schweiz 2:3
In 1928 he came back to german national football team for Olympic Games (2 caps), and he played after the Olympic Games 5 times.
16.09.1928 Deutschland - Dänemark 2:1 30.09.1928 Schweden - Deutschland 2:0 28.04.1929 Italien - Deutschland 1:2 20.10.1929 Deutschland - Finnland 4:0 24.05.1931 Deutschland - Österreich 0:6
His last cap was the 0:6 against Austrias "Wunderteam". It was the last game for some German footballers in the national team, not only A. Beier.

English cricketers
Bobo192, thanks for all your new articles on English cricketers. I notice, however, that you have added them all to the English ODI cricketers category. This category should only be used for players who have competed in at least one one-day international for England:) All the best, jguk 15:51, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Omani cricketers
It's nice to see some Omani cricketers listed, given that country's recent surprise improvement - would it be possible to state what the bowling and batting records you list correspond to? Is it international (inter-associate) games or club cricket? Many thanks --TheGrappler 21:31, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks! Do Omani cricketers who hold Indian nationality count as Indian cricketers? Presumably not under the categorisation scheme used by the WikiProject. However, that would be more consistent with all the other categorisations... similarly, "West Indian" isn't really a "nationality" as such; I do wonder if their players should also be subcategorised by their actual nationality, so they can be accessed through the sportspeople category of their own country. The fact is, nationality and international team, especially in cricket, are not quite the same thing! --TheGrappler 21:46, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
Oooh, one more thing: I think there's a problem with Greig Williamson and Grieg Williamson - I think you accidentally made two articles for this Scottish cricketer! --TheGrappler 21:48, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Italian footballers
Hi Bobo, I've seen that you've written an article about Alessandro Boccolini. Well, he's a carneade, a nobody: third goalkeeper in a really minor Serie A team, with no presence in the league, and maybe going to be sold to some Serie C side during the current January market. I've seen you commented your contribution by referring to a "list of missing Italian footballers". Where is this list? There are so many other Italian footballers who deserve much more to have an article. I'm seriously thinking if it would be better to delete it. --Angelo 23:56, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, Bobo. I've submitted a speedy deletion request for the article right now. --Angelo 02:51, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Born, died
Please don't add in locations of birth and death in the opening brackets for dates of birth and death. That is not the agreed format and everywhere they are added in they will simply have to be taken out. The agreed format to be used is (<date month> <year>–<date month year) or mm dd if necessary, for someone who is dead, and (born <ddmm> <year>) for someone who is alive. Other information is not but in that set of brackets. FearÉIREANN\ 23:20, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Like to be mop-nominated?
Your name has been on, and indeed near the top of WP:NA for quite a while, but so far as I know you've never been nominated. Your contributions look industrious and uncontroversial, and I can see no reason why you shouldn't get the mop, if you're indeed interested. Would you like me to nominate you? Alai 06:42, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- I'm saying nothing about rising times of a Sunday
morning, on the "glass houses" principle. Nominated, you now need to accept, answer the questions, and list the page. Indeed, pretty much no way to tell, but I can see no reason you wouldn't be accepted. Look at it this way: if there's some mysterious objection people would have, better to discover it now, make whatever amends or corrective action might be required, and get re-nominated in due course, if the worst comes to the worst. Alai 17:57, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- As I alluded to above, technically you're supposed to do that bit yourself.... Alai 19:20, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe it's a final initiative/technical skills test? :) Best of luck! Alai 19:28, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
I see a distinct pattern in the opposes/concerned-sounding neutrals! Regardless of which way this pans out (and it's fairly finely poised at present), can I suggest you consider joining a wikiproject as a "kinder, gentler" means of having more interactions with other users, and the project space? And/or one of the more neglected "process" pages -- categories for deletion/renaming, or requested moves, if you're interested in naming convention matters, stub proposals/deletions, etc, etc. Not so painful as AFD, or as full-bore wikipolitics, I promise. Alai 02:39, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- The neutrals are basically not counted, unless the support:oppose ratio is really in the "grey area". (Notice that Ian13 was just promoted with barely 75% support, not counting the neutrals at all.) I don't suggest you take part in a WPJ or process page only to get your namespace edit count up, and I certainly don't suggest one you have no actual interest in: as I say, I think it would be worth considering regardless of the RfA outcome. But I'd think you'd have some interest in Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Football, Misplaced Pages:Typo and similar "cleanup" activities... And WP:WSS could always do with more slave^Wvolunteer labour, I can testify from personal experience. Alai 18:25, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
You're very welcome. Alai 18:57, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Hope I'm not tempting fate by jumping the gun of the actual closure, but as the deadline's passed, and unless there are about six late-breaking opposes... Well done, talk to people occasionally, but keep up the good work -- and don't swing to the opposite end of the spectrum and turn into a total process-fiend, either! Alai 20:02, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those.
