Madea's Family Reunion is a film adaptation of a play written by Tyler Perry and sequel to Diary of a Mad Black Woman. It was written and directed by Perry and features him playing several characters, including Madea. It was released on February 24, 2006.

Plot

Template:Spoiler After her sister's funeral, Madea hosts a family reunion in her backyard. She is getting acquainted with her 'high' granddaughter, a granddaughter and future grandson-in-law, and her know-it-all cousin.

Box Office

The film grossed $30 million in its opening weekend, 38 percent higher than the original Diary and the second highest opening for the independent studio Lions Gate Films. For both Diary and Madea, Lions Gate marketed directly to faith-based audiences and both opened at number one, despite playing in fewer theaters than most Big Six studio films. Exit polls showed that 52% of the audience were black women over the age of 35.
