On October 4, 2011, a Bell 206 helicopter crashed in the East River in New York City, New York, United States. The crash occurred around 3:22 PM at the East 34th Street Heliport near FDR Drive in Manhattan. The helicopter had five people on board. Four were rescued, including the pilot, with 2 people seriously injured. Rescue crews from the FDNY, NYPD, local emergency services, and the U.S. Coast Guard searched for the five victims one of whom was found dead.
