Junius Kwan Yiu Ho (何君堯) was born on 4th June 1962 and is a Hong Kong Senior Partner and a Principal Representative of Guangzhou. He is the President of the law society of Hong Kong by election since 2011.
Education
- 1975- 1979 Junius studied at the Queen's College Hong Kong.
- 1979-1984 Junius studied in the United Kingdom at Anglia Ruskin University (formerly known as Chelmer Institute of Higher Education) obtaining his Bachelor of Law's degree.
- 1984-1986 Junius returned to Hong Kong and became a Post-graduate at the University of Hong Kong obtaining his Certificate in Laws study (PCLL).
- 2011 Junius was awarded the honorary Doctor of Laws by Anglia Ruskin University.
Career
After gaining his qualifications Junius was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1988 and was similarly admitted in other jurisdictions in Singapore and England and Wales in 1995 and 1997.
In 2003 Junius was appointed as a China-Appointed Attesting Officer.
In 2010 he became the Vice-President and Council Member of the Law Society of Hong Kong and was appointed as President of the law society of Hong Kong in 2011.
In 2011 Junius became the Chairman of Tuen Mun Rural Committee and holds the posts of Ex officio member of Tuen Mun District Council and Ex officio executive member of the 33rd Executive Committee of Heung Yee Kuk.
Recent
In July 2011 as President of the Law Society of Hong Kong Junius expressed his thoughts to the media on the judicial review of Filipino maids seeking right of abode in Hong Kong.
In August 2011 three protesting students who were locked up in the back stairs of the K. K. Leung Building of the University of Hong Kong during Vice-Premier Li Keqiang's visit hit headlines and Junius as President of the Law Society of Hong Kong citied section six of the Public Order Ordinance to explain police discretions on the extent of restrictions considered necessary for national security or public safety.
On 23rd September 2011 Junius was a guest on the radio programme, “On a Clear Day” regarding Replacement Mechanism.
