Prontera
Prontera, officially referred to as Capital Prontera, is a city in the fantasy world of Ragnarok Online. It is one of the oldest towns in the game, having existed since the game's initial public alpha test. It is one of the busiest locations in the game, with many player merchants selling their wares in the streets of the city. While it is officially the capital of Rune-Midgard, it has unofficially become the center of the game due to its favorable location on the world map, and as such it is no surprise that it is considered to be located at (0,0).
Guilds
Prontera has two guilds at this time:
- Prontera Church: Here, a Novice may become an Acolyte if he or she has attained Basic Skills level 9. It is located in the Northeast corner of the city. A Swordman may also change into a Crusader here once he or she has reached job level 40. Also, Acolytes can change into Priests if they reach job lvl 40.
- Prontera Chivalry: Here, a Swordman may become a Knight if he or she has attained job level 40. It is located in the Northwest corner of the city. The Prontera Chivalry has always existed, as it is also where people may sign up for access to the Culvert (see below), however it did not gain the ability to allow Swordman to become Knights until the second closed beta test, when the Knight class was introduced.
- Central Palace: Here, a Swordman may become a Crusader if he or she has attained job level 40. It is located in the castle to the north of Prontera's center. Though the Palace had always been a part of the city, the NPC required to change into a Crusader was not implemented until the introduction of the 2-2 Classes.
Dungeons
Prontera has two dungeons at this time:
- Hidden Dungeon: A large and complex dungeon lies North of Prontera. It can be accessed by going straight up from the town's middle, passing through the Prontera Castle, the guild war area and exiting the city to the north. It has only three maps, though the first and third are divided into a large number of smaller rooms (each with its own set of monsters) through which navigation is difficult. It is located at the North edge of (0,1), just West of center. Monster boss: Baphomet (Third Maze)
- The Culvert: The Prontera sewers (known as the Culvert) constitute a small dungeon located under Prontera. The entrance to the Culvert is located at (-1,0) in the center of the map. Monster boss: Golden Thief Bug (Basement 4)
