He was born March 26, 1973 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he got his start as an actor at the Guthrie Theater when he was five years old. He is currently starring in Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. George O'Malley. He was also was a regular cast member of the short-lived 2003 Nathan Lane series Charlie Lawrence with Laurie Metcalf. Knight is also an accomplished stage actor. He skipped college after finishing high school to hone his acting skills in regional theaters including the Gutherie theater. He then moved to New York, where he has appeared on Broadway. Knight's most recent appearence was in 2003 as Damis in Tartuffe. He also received a Drama Desk Award nomination in 2003 for his role in the off-Broadway production of Scattergood.
