Speedy deletion nomination of The Smile Shop

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Smile Shop requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Cindy(talk) 15:21, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, RebeccaTheAwesomeXD. We welcome your contributions to Misplaced Pages, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article The Smile Shop, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Misplaced Pages's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Misplaced Pages article or website of your organization in other articles (see Misplaced Pages:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Misplaced Pages's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Misplaced Pages when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

License tagging for File:Michele xD.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Michele xD.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Misplaced Pages uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 14:05, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:The Smile Shop.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:The Smile Shop.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

— CactusWriter 07:11, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Michele Perniola backstage at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Michele Perniola backstage at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Misplaced Pages:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Misplaced Pages's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — CactusWriter 07:31, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Eddie Money, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! Replaceable fair use File:Ilya-Volkov-2014-charity-show-o9-9.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Ilya-Volkov-2014-charity-show-o9-9.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Misplaced Pages. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  21:27, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Welcome to Misplaced Pages. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. There was no citation to verify your fact about a different Cypriot broadcaster. Also the citation for the UK, it does not say that the BBC used the term "never". The BBC just said they are not likely this time. Wes Mᴥuse 22:18, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Removing protection templates

Hello,

Please do not remove protection templates from protected pages, including those under pending changes, as you did here. This action will result in pages being incorrectly tagged and categorized. Fortunately, a bot has re-added the template automatically in this instance. CT Cooper · talk 23:02, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Um, I'm not sure I know what you're talking about? { } 19:01, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

Also I was wondering on articles such as Julia Kedhammar and Sophia Patsalides where do you find the sources for their birthdays? { } 19:04, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

Portugal in JESC 2014

I wonder if Portugal should do one of the following:

  • National selection (like they did back in 2006 & 2007)
  • Internal selection

Vincenzo Cantiello

Please do not change Cantiello's birth year to 2000 anymore. Sources say he's 13 years old which would make him born in 2001. Also, do you actually have sources for all these birthdays or do you just make them up on your own...? { } 00:45, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

For your information, I've learned on various (J)ESC websites that he was born in 2000, making him 14. RebeccaTheAwesomeXD (talk) 20:51, 26 September 2014 (UTC)RebeccaTheAwesomeXD

Firstly, please maintain civility towards fellow Misplaced Pages's. Secondly, these "various" JESC websites may have their information incorrect, which we do need to bear in mind too. On Misplaced Pages, when dealing with biographies of living people we have to tread extra carefully with information regarding people, so that we (Wikimedia) can avoid any potential lawsuits from such people for writing false information. It is likely that Vincenzo was born in 2000 and be 13 at the time of the website printing his story, and then turned 14 days afterwards. However, it would be ideal to double-check dates of birth from more official sources and not just taking for granted what various websites report. Wes Mouse 22:53, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
It's ok Wesley, this was my mistake. I'm pretty sure sources said that Vincenzo was 13 years old, yet in a source published by JuniorEurovision.tv it stated he was born in August 2000 and is actually 14 years old. { } 22:56, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Oh yeah, sure. Still in his teens, I guess. RebeccaTheAwesomeXD (talk) 23:22, 26 September 2014 (UTC)RebeccaTheAwesomeXD
Rebecca, consider this a second warning about civility towards other editors. It is clear that the way you worded your reply was sarcasm and a sly dig towards another editor. Always assume good faith and avoid snide remarks, even if we do feel overheated. Wes Mouse 23:34, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

September 2014

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to San Marino in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This contravenes Misplaced Pages's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages. Wes Mouse 23:12, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

Please consider this your final warning. You've had more than enough previously. Your contributions are welcome, but editors are expected to observe Misplaced Pages:Verifiability and if you continue to not do so I may place a block on your account. CT Cooper · talk 14:31, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Date formatting

Rebecca,

I just wanted to raise a matter with you regarding the formatting of dates. Per WP:DATE and in particularly WP:STRONGNAT, the date format is suppose to be day before month (1 October 2014); unless the article concerned is USA-related, in which case it would be month before date (October 1, 2014). Please make sure when adding dates on Eurovision articles that the correct format is used. Thanks. Wes Mouse 00:33, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages.

When editing Misplaced Pages, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Josie Zec does not have an edit summary. Why delink the song title, when it is clear an article will be created for it in due course? In future it would be helpful if you stated the reasons for your edits in the edit summary so that people know why you are doing such edits.

The edit summary appears in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Wes Mouse 09:41, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

October 2014

Rebecca, your constant disruptive edits on various (Junior) Eurovision Song Contest pages have gone on for too long. I explained to you why the page should not be named Around (Julia van Bergen song) yet you completely ignored me and this was just the final straw. I now will begin speaking with some other advanced editors of Eurovision-related pages and discuss if there should be some consequences for your actions as you've been warned many times already. { } 11:13, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Edit warring

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Around (song) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Sorry to have to issue this, but both yourself and Jjj1238 do seem to be edit warring by constantly page moving. If you are in dispute then perhaps discussing the matter on the article talk page would be the better solution. Wes Mouse 21:05, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

October 2014

Hello, I'm Wesley Mouse. Thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. I noticed that you unlinked one or more redlinks from Josie Zec. Often redlinks can be helpful, so we don't remove them just because they are red. They help improve Misplaced Pages by attracting editors to create needed articles.

In addition, clicking on the "What links here" special link (in the Misplaced Pages Toolbox at left) on a missing article shows how many—and which—articles depend on that article being created. This can help prioritize article creation. Redlinks are useful! Please, only remove a redlink if you are pretty sure that it is to a non-notable topic and not likely ever to be created. Thanks! Wes Mouse 00:19, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Nisi sam

Rebecca, please see the comment at Talk:Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in which an editor from the EBU has kindly confirmed the correct song title. Wes Mouse 20:11, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Rebecca, why are you being disruptive and going against what has been decided? Your actions are now becoming highly problematic, and leaving me with no other choice but to consider escalating matters to administration level. Start paying attention and checking edit summaries and/or article talk pages to discover what decisions have been agreed upon before jumping the gun and going off your own back. And editor from the EBU left as note on the JESC2014 talk page informing us that the song title we had previously wrote was incorrect. And now you make an article and change the title based on the incorrect version. Wes Mouse 20:47, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Tutorial proposal

Hi Rebecca,

I wanted to take the time to let you know that I had a private discussion with an administrator about the recent issues in regards to the recent page moving of the article "Around (song)", that occurred between yourself and Jjj1238. We both felt that the issuing of a 3RR was the right step, but it should not be seen by either party as an official "telling off", but to aid as a reminder on the troubles that Wikipedian's can get themselves into if we are not cautious on our actions, or the actions of other's. Thankfully, the 3RR notice appears to have done the job as I have noticed the page moving war has ceased, which is an achievement in itself. I am also considering whether to issue some helpful tips on editing to you both so that you are aware of the complexity of the world we call Misplaced Pages, and hopefully reduce the number of warnings being placed on either of your talk pages.

For example, tips on using the edit summary so other's know why a specific edit has been made; remembering to check article history and talk pages to verify why something has been done in a particular way, rather than jumping the gun, making the action, and then finding it was all for nothing when the action gets reverted. And also setting up talk page archiving, so that any comments that are no longer required can be archived away and produce a clutter-free talk space. These are all common mistakes to make, and believe me, I know from personal experience. I've only been a Wikipedian since 2011, and even now I'm still learning things along the way, but feel capable in seeking advice or checking guidance/policies before making any edits that I am not 100% certain of. But I do have the handy tools/links on my main user page as a point of reference, should I ever come across a situation I am unfamiliar with.

Also, I think that both Jjj1238 and yourself could do with taking some time to browse through the WikiProject Eurovision pages, to familiarise with how the project operates, and thus reduce the number of mistakes. It may help, as there are topics covering article creation, and making sure an article is warranted and meets the notability policy before creating anything new and finding it a victim of deletion. I offered the same advice to Jjj1238, that I have offered you. If either/both of you feel the need to have some tutorials in order to gain some experience, then I am more than happy to provide such, or even see if a member of the adopt-a-user team would be willing to help. Their knowledge is impressive and learning such knowledge from experienced users may give the advantage and comfort in knowing we can collaborate on Misplaced Pages without mistakes or getting into sanctioning troubles. Let me know via my talk page if you are interested, as I feel there is potential in the pair of you to becoming superb contributors to Misplaced Pages. Regards. Wes Mouse 21:56, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Article naming

Rebecca,

I think you may need to familiarise yourself with some naming policies here at Misplaced Pages. Per WP:SONG#Naming an article relating to a song title must not be disambiguated with the artist, unless there are more than one article with the same song title. Twice you have done this with Around (song) and more recently with Breaking My Heart (song). As both of these articles are the only song title articles on Misplaced Pages, then it is unnecessary to disambiguate them with their respective artist name. Please be more careful in future, as your constant page moving is on the verge of edit warring territory, which may result in your editing privileges being blocked. Wes Mouse 15:11, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Page moving

Rebecca, moving pages isn't something that should be done lightly – it can cause disruption to the functioning of the encyclopedia. Please do not move any more pages unless you have agreement of other editors through a consensus on the article talk page. Failure to observe this request may result in your account being blocked for move warring or the articles in question being moved protected.

Note that in general, pages should be at the simplest title, with additional information (known as disambiguation) only added when needed to avoid conflicts between pages titles. Please review Misplaced Pages:Article titles and WP:SONG. Thank you. CT Cooper · talk 15:13, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Copyrights

Rebecca, I have warned you several times now about adding content to articles that is protected by copyright laws. Please avoid adding music videos to articles as they are owned by the artist/band and are protected by copyright laws. Failure to abide to these rules will result in your account being blocked. It would be helpful if in future that you started to use the edit summary when you make edits so people know what you are doing, and also check the article's history, to see if there are reasons why something has been removed, before you engage in edit warring and re-adding content that has clearly been removed for a valid reason. Wes Mouse 12:58, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
