Hi Chuck. Noticed you archived your current talk page, but you didn't keep the links to the old discussions that were on top of the page before you moved it ( ). It is best to keep easy-access to previous discussions. I'm happy to help create a complete archive for you with links to all discussions (such as I do on my talk page). Just let me know. --MichaelZimmer (talk) 13:45, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Chuck, your attempt to link to the history of your archived talk page was incomplete, and only provided history through June 2006. I've changed it so it links to all the history. (Although I think there are better methods of archiving your talk discussions). --MichaelZimmer (talk) 16:04, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- I don't understand this template: Template:Archivebox How's it used?
- I'm hanging up now.--Chuck Marean 16:18, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Some help is here: Template_talk:Archivebox. Basically, you create individual archive pages for date ranges of archived talk pages, and then link to them all from this archive template. Instead of just providing a link to the history of talk page (which is very hard to navigate), this allows you to archive the talk pages as they appeared on the original talk page. Look at how its used at my talk page User talk:MichaelZimmer. If you want, I will happily archive all of your talk history for you using this template. --16:25, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- I replaced the box someone put on my talk page with the template, following the directions on the template's talk page. I think your saying the archive can be divided into more than one archive, but then wouldn't the history page be gone?--Chuck Marean 17:31, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- You can indeed divide it into more than one page. Its usually easier to do that. Because the archived comments should not (in theory) be edited after they've been archived, the history remains on the original talk page (i.e. this page) should you need to refer to it.
