Template:Forbestopic
I see you requested the deletion of this Template and had it removed from the many articles which used it. The request only referred to the earlier, also controversial, deletion of The Economist template "and others". Why does the U.S. government (or is it Lockheed Martin?) want to block information about business and economic topics? Responsible people would request a (purportedly) broken Template be fixed, yet you demanded it, and all uses of it, be deleted. What is your connection with User:Plastikspork who executed that request with no discussion?

- Wow, 198-user, that was pretty unpleasant, huh? I'm glad to see you don't show any sign of having taken the bait. One of the watchwords here is "Don't bite the newbies", which principle IMO was "flung down and danced upon" by the obvious political junkie who was your anonymous assailant. I hope you correctly interpreted that gentle inquiry for particulars (which they have no business requesting of you) as an indication that (however valuable or obstructive their record of editing may have been, in their ~ 18 month tenure on their own IP address) there's no reason for you to invest them with any authority. (IIRC it is actual disclosure of evidence of an anon user's identity, and not just soliciting such evidence that is subject to sanctions by, hmm, probably the Stewards or the ArbCom.) It's true that you assigned to the WMF important permissions regarding any of your text contribs, but the folks who act on behalf of the Foundation are both reasonable and responsible, and without knowing any particulars, i'm glad you were able to receive enough consideration of your concerns to upset the complaining IP.

Re: Module:Factorization
I made the error message more obvious by making big, bold, and red. On an unrelated note, there's no need to include the number=
parameter in {{Infobox number}}, since it defaults to the number of the current page. -- Ypnypn (talk) 16:15, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Re: broken formatting of magazine titles
In reply to your question in the comments adjacent to the problem that is nicely fixed in many places by {{lcfirstitalictitle}}, i wrote
- Fair question. You had one visible invocation of DISPLAYTITLE, plus two hidden ones inside the templates {{lowercase title}} and {{italic title}}; only the last one works, and the others cause the red error message(s).
Oh, and also with the templates (or is it with DISPLAYTITLE? Well, less confusing anyway in each case!), you also *have* to match (all but the first character) exactly with the corresponding default, i.e., database name, in this case with either "... magazine" or "... magazine".
Hmm. It's actually not quite as stringent as the previous sentence says. You could look up the details, or ask me for more.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Salad days may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
- List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
- Independence Day 1996) "Are the salad days over for President Whitmore?"
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 20:12, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Module talk:Location map/data/Africa, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:29, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Why are you editing random people's userpages? Don't you know you're not supposed to do that? — Jeraphine Gryphon 18:55, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
