Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
List of programs broadcast by Univision (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Hello. I request the protection of this article, since it has been suffering vandalism and several ips add information speculative and without reliable sources. Philip J Fry Talk 21:16, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
History of music (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinate pending changes or temporary semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism within the last few months. Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 20:56, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Rettetast (talk) 22:54, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Garnet (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Kharkiv07 20:45, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. I have blocked the vandals. Rettetast (talk) 22:53, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Istanbul Armenian Genocide memorial (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Article has been subject to continuous edit wars involving multiple IPs. Semi-protection should at least encourage the IPs to participate in a discussion at the talk page. Étienne Dolet (talk) 19:40, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Rettetast (talk) 22:51, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Asia's Next Top Model (cycle 3) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: I am not sure if this is the solution to the massive problems with this article. It is continuously vandalized but some of the vandalism is done by throw-away accounts and some of the fixing of vandalism is done by IP accounts. It's difficult for editors outside of Asia to know which edits are correct since the edits concern developments that occur on the television series. As admins well-versed in all dimensions of vandalism, if you know of better solutions (maybe pending changes?), they would be welcome. Liz 18:59, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Categories for discussion/Log/2015 March 27 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Banned User:Instantnood keeps using IP socks to vote on the discussion. Three IPs have already been blocked: 218.250.159.217, 218.250.142.240, and 58.153.97.29, but the user keeps coming back with new IPs. Zanhe (talk) 18:27, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- I am not Instantnoodle and I don't understand why Zanhe, who's known to write a lot about Chinese communist officials while never declared whether or not he or she's paid to edit, keeps deleting my remarks to this particular CSD. He has provided no evidence to justify what he claims. 203.210.6.111 (talk) 18:47, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- 203.210.6.x is a network known to have been used by Instantnood. See block log. -Zanhe (talk) 19:11, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- I never knew I am associated with, or more accurately, the IP range that I'm using is associated with a banned user. The so-called evidence which Zanhe submitted (finally) is something happened a year ago and I don't understand in what way is that relevant here. 203.210.6.64 (talk) 19:24, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Alternative dance (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Edit wars involving multiple IPs. Malmsimp (talk) 18:10, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Rettetast (talk) 19:26, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Seeman (director) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: High level of BLP violations and WP:OR edits from IPs. CuCl2 17:10, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- Declined – Warn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. Rettetast (talk)
Template:Freenode (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Indefinite template protection: Highly visible template – With 11,616 transclusions according to http://tools.wmflabs.org/templatecount/index.php?lang=en&name=Freenode&namespace=10#bottom - and edits like Special:Diff/655008232 that broke all 11K+ of them shows a need for Template editor protection. — {{U|Technical 13}}

- {{Rfpp|nea}} Malinaccier (talk) 18:16, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- This is a highly transcluded template and as such qualifies for TE protection. I'm requesting another administrator consider this template since now we've added about 45K jobs to the job queue. Thank you. I'll also note that it was inappropriate for Malinaccier to remove my initial comment when replying, I'll assume it was accidental. —

- Template protection is inappropriate, there is currently a content dispute related to the template and, since a template editor is involved, template protection would give them an advantage in the dispute. PhantomTech (talk)
- Note that Malinaccier didn't remove it, it was removed here by Mezigue. Kharkiv07 22:59, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

The Night of the Doctor (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: This article has attracted the attention of the IP-hopping Artist Sometimes Known as "Best known for IP" who despite being reverted by three editors insists only they understand the English language and everyone else is conspiring to destroy Misplaced Pages. (Edit summaries such as suggest hoping for any sort of cooperative resolution is optimistic in the extreme.) Mezigue (talk) 15:14, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, the War on Quality continues. I made simple, obvious, utterly uncontroversial improvements. I explained them at length on the talk page, absurd though it was to have to do so. They were reverted for no reason. Some people hate quality so much that they just want to stamp it out wherever they see it. 200.83.178.121 (talk) 15:25, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Birkenhead Dock Disaster (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary move protection: Page title dispute/move warring. RGloucester — ☎ 16:07, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- Move protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Nakon 19:59, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- Automated comment: Page has not been protected.—Talk to my owner:Online 20:14, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- Source page was protected. Nakon 20:43, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection: Still needed after 4+ years?. Fuddle (talk) 01:18, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- You should ask DragonflySixtyseven about that as protecting admin. tutterMouse (talk) 08:50, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Further information: Misplaced Pages:Edit requests ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
It says just above to “see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.” I see nothing at the top of this page pertaining to edit requests. So my first request is: Please add these instructions to this page.
Second: In Misplaced Pages#Critical reception, please make the following change (minus styling):
concluding that the fact that Misplaced Pages explicitly is not designed to provide correct information about a subject, but rather only present the majority “weight” of viewpoints creates omissions,
whichcan lead to false beliefs based on incomplete information.
Otherwise, the first “that” is dangling. —174.141.182.82 (talk) 20:19, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
