The series begins in the year 2149, a time when humanity is threatened with extinction. In an effort to save the human race, scientists use a time fracture allowing people to travel 85 million years back in time to prehistoric Earth in an alternate timeline. The Shannon family, father Jim (Jason O'Mara), his wife Elisabeth (Shelley Conn), and their three children Josh (Landon Liboiron), Maddy (Naomi Scott), and Zoe (Alana Mansour) join the tenth pilgrimage of settlers to Terra Nova, the first human colony on the other side of the temporal doorway. The complete series was released on DVD in Region 1 on September 11, in Region 2 on September 24 and in Region 4 on October 24, 2012.
The series was cancelled by Fox after its first season.
