Christopher Winship is Professor of sociology at Harvard University. He earned his bachelor degree in mathematics and sociology from Dartmouth College. He holds a Ph.D in sociology from Harvard. He served as the Chair of Harvard's sociology department from 1998 to 2001. From 1984 to 1986, he was the director of the Economics Research Center at NORC. Before coming to Harvard in 1992, he was a professor of Sociology and Economics at Northwestern University, where he also was a founding member of the Department of Statistics. He was Director of the Program in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences at Northwestern. He is editor of Sociological Methods and Research.
