The current article we are working to improve is Microsoft, and the aim for this page is to expand it, revert vandalisim, and verify certain information that has become inaccurate over the years. The editor that has the most edits and improvements to this page will earn a barnstar of their choice. The second and third person will also earn one, but one that is pre decided.

Help is needed for the job of putting future Newsletters together. The present incumbent is finding it difficult to reflect the breadth of the Project, focusing on much the same individuals and articles each month, and has decided to beg for contributions from other individuals. Interested persons need only start working on next months issue to qualify. It really is that simple!
If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Microsoft. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy!

Hi there. Okay, I understand that nbsp is a non-breaking space. But that is a raw HTML entity, correct? Why do some editors create edits with nbsp in them such as edits here? Thanks in advance for the clarification. --SpyMagician (talk) 04:06, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
As you might you already know it's actually done by a script called User:Cameltrader/Advisor which automatically suggests improvements to the formatting. WP:ADVISOR#Features mentions "if an mdash or ndash is preceded by a space, it had better be a non-breaking one". This is mainly because WP:MOSNUM#Non-breaking spaces recommends to use non-breaking spaces to prevent causing linebreaks in some situations. However, If – wasn't preceded by a space then the script won't try to modify it because, as there isn't aren't any whitespaces it's unlikely to cause linebreaks. So as you can see there was a space before the –here which made the script suggest a non-breaking space rather than a whitespace+–. This is however, not a rule, but rather a formatting method to improve article layout. I hope you'll get my explanation. Cheers! -- Chamith(talk)05:05, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Instead of reverting my edit, i guess edit the page and leave some important notes, such as "Graphics card that support DirectX 9 needed to support Aero".

@Akmaie Ajam: I'm sorry but it needs to be reverted, mostly because it's poorly written. As far as I know there's nothing called "Graphics card that support DirectX 9 needed to support Aero". If you could provide a reliable source to backup your claims I'm willing to discuss about this further. And please refrain from providing opinion pieces. It's ok Akmaie Ajam. I appreciate your concern to improve Misplaced Pages. Speaking of my reversion, 4.09.00.0900 (RC4) is a version of DirectX. So saying Graphics card that support DirectX 9 needed to support Aero" contradicts the meaning as it's not a graphics card, but a version. I hope you understand why I reverted your edit and not get hurt by it. And, any addition could be challenged if a reliable source is not cited. @Akmaie Ajam: If you are suggesting that you should use your sandbox then I'd say "absolutely yes". Moreover, you can ask another editor to fix typos, grammar mistakes you made in your sandbox project. Collaboration can go a long way here on Misplaced Pages. WikiCup 2015 September newsletter
The finals for the 2015 Wikicup has now begun! Congrats to the 8 contestants who have survived to the finals, and well done and thanks to everyone who took part in rounds 3 and 4.
In round 3, we had a three-way tie for qualification among the wildcard contestants, so we had 34 competitors. The leader was by far Casliber (submissions) in Group B, who earned 1496 points. Although 913 of these points were bonus points, he submitted 15 articles in the DYK category. Second place overall was Coemgenus (submissions) at 864 points, who although submitted just 2 FAs for 400 points, earned double that amount for those articles in bonus points. Everyone who moved forward to Round 4 earned at least 100 points.
The scores required to move onto the semifinals were impressive; the lowest scorer to move onto the finals was 407, making this year's Wikicup as competitive as it's always been. Our finalists, ordered by round 4 score, are:
Cas Liber (submissions), who is competing in his sixth consecutive Wikicup final, again finished the round in first place, with an impressive 1666 points in Pool B. Casliber writes about the natural sciences, including ornithology, botany and astronomy. A large bulk of his points this round were bonus points.
Godot13 (submissions) (FP bonus points), second place both in Pool B and overall, earned the bulk of his points with FPs, mostly depicting currency.
Cwmhiraeth (submissions), first in Pool A, came in third. His specialty is natural science articles; in Round 4, he mostly submitted articles about insects and botany. Five out of the six of the GAs he submitted were level-4 vital articles.
West Virginian (submissions), from Pool A, was our highest-scoring wildcard. West Virginia tends to focus on articles about the history of (what for it!) the U.S. state of West Virginia.
Rationalobserver (submissions), from Pool B, came in seventh overall. RO earned the majority of her points from GARs and PRs, many of which were earned in the final hours of the round.
Calvin999 (submissions), also from Pool B, who was competing with RO for the final two spots in the final hours, takes the race for most GARs and PRs—48.
The intense competition between RO and Calvin999 will continue into the finals. They're both eligible for the Newcomers Trophy, given for the first time in the Wikicup; whoever makes the most points will win it.
Good luck to the finalists; the judges are sure that the competition will be fierce!
