KPBI-CA is a Class-A low power television station in Fort Smith, Arkansas, broadcasting on channel 46. The station is owned by Equity Broadcasting. Like many Equity stations, KPBI-CA is controlled remotely via satellite from Equity's headquarters in Little Rock, Arkansas, and is relayed in encrypted form via the satellite Galaxy 10R (Ku-band transponder 21).
Until August 28, 2006, KPBI-CA was the Fox affiliate for this market, and was referred to on the air as Fox Arkansas.
KPBI-CA lost the Fox affiliation to KFTA-TV on August 28, 2006, even though Equity Broadcasting challenged the sale of KFTA-TV with the FCC. KPBI-CA will join MyNetworkTV starting September 5, 2006, replacing sister station KFDF-CA (currently UPN) which will instead join the Retro Television Network.
