In this episode, Captain Braxton from the future appears before Voyager and says he must destroy them to prevent a cataclysm that will wipe out most of the United Federation of Planets. Voyager fights back, resulting in a time rip that sent the future captain to the 1960s, while the Voyager and her crew are sent to the 1990s. A hippie found the time ship in the sixties, which led to the computer revolution of the nineties. The hippie, now a rich man, manages to hack into the computer on Voyager and steal many of their files, including the Doctor. Meanwhile a young woman, played by Sarah Silverman, has discovered Voyager in high orbit, and assumes it to be extraterrestrials. She successfully attempts to contact Voyager, which forces the crew to do some damage control. Captain Janeway, Commander Chakotay, Tuvok, and Tom Paris, all go to Earth's surface. Tuvok and Paris go to the young woman, while Janeway and Chakotay investigate the hippie.
Aftermath
The main consequence of the episode was that the Doctor gained the use of the Mobile Emitter and thus was able to leave Voyager's sick bay and go wherever he wanted, whether inside or outside the ship.
Captain Braxton re-appeared in a later episode of Voyager suffering from temporal psychosis which he blamed on too many trips through time to correct errors which he believed were caused by Captain Janeway.
