This is the class of laser that would eventually eliminate glasses or contact lenses in many cases requiring vision correction (the procedure takes less than a minute and is going like wildfire today). Dr. Bhaumik was elected by his peers to be a fellow of the American Physical Society as well as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
He is the elder son of the famous Bhaumik family. The high-profile doctor who has been working with 'E-schemer' Laser ray for many years, actually hailed from Midnapur district of West Bengal and was a resident of Mahisadal at Tamluk. He had vast expertise over installation of artificial lens over the retina.
He had his undergraduate education at the Scottish Church College of the University of Calcutta where he worked under the tutelage of Satyendra Nath Bose and Paul Dirac and later earned his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. His alma mater, IIT Kharagpur, awarded him an honorary D.Sc. degree for lifetime academic achievement.
Due to his extraordinary achievements Dr. Bhaumik is revered in his native West Bengal, where a recent book length biography, Mani the Jewel, is a current bestseller. He has published over fifty papers in dozens of scientific periodicals; his latest paper, Unified Field-the Universal Blueprint? appeared in the February 2000 issue of the International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences. Dr. Bhaumik has lectured all over the world, including some television appearances, such as in the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
