Member States of the European Union are required by Directive 2005/29/EC to transpose the requirements of the Directive into their national statute books by no later than June 12 2007.
Member States are required by Directive 2005/29/EC to apply the measures of the Directive into their national laws by December 12 2007.
In the United Kingdom the effect of Directive 2005/29/EC will be that existing legislation that is within the scope of the Directive will have to be either repealed or amended in order for the United Kingdom to comply with its obligations under the Treaty of Rome.
