FAC

Thanks very much for your help and advice for the British African-Caribbean page. It is much appreciated. Such support on Misplaced Pages is all too rare and it's great that you give your time to do some essential quality control on these pages.--Zleitzen 04:19, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

NPWatcher

You've been approved to use NPWatcher. When you log into the program, wait a few seconds while it queries wikipedia before screaming at your PC for crashing (unless you see an error, of course). Please give me any feature requests, bugs, etc. The watchlist feature does not work. Before you run the program, please check the changelog on the application page to see if I've made a new release. Finally, enjoy! Martinp23

Also, thanks for your interest, and please repot any problems or feature requests! Martinp23 18:04, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

FAC review request

I've been very busy in real life lately and I was taking a wikibreak. I was ready to move on to another article but today I noticed the Anthony Michael Hall FAC hasn't been removed from the list after several promotions. I was wondering if you could take another look at the prose. I'm open to further suggestions and copyedits, perhaps the nomination is not lost yet. If you're too busy, just let me know. Thanks! Misplaced Pages:Featured_article_candidates/Scottish Parliament

You commented on this article earlier this month pointing out some wikilink and prose problems. I've amended all the areas you suggested that should be and have removed some other duplicate links and redundant ones as well. I'd be very greatful if you could take a look at it again and give your comments. Thanks Globaltraveller 20:17, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Mayor Perez

Why are you try to delete the article on Mayor Juan Perez of Sheboygan, Wisconsin? Senator Heimermann 04:05, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Judging from the page history for Juan Perez (mayor), Asher recreated it 25 minutes ago with the text from the about-to-be-deleted Mayor Juan Perez, dragging the db-bio tag along for the ride. I'm not clear why User:Bucketsofg immediately removed the db-bio tag, though. We can probably ask Asher to db-author it to keep things tidy...assuming I can convince him that the mayor of a town with a population around 50,000 is probably not considered to be notable. As far as I can tell, the only Wisconsin cities whose mayors have bios here are Madison, Wisconsin and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. -- Jim Douglas (contribs) 04:50, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

After the IP address removed the copyviol, he added back a line which was also a copyviol, I just removed it. I'll let you deal with it. I'm not bothering to warn him, since it semms no one wants to block him. --ArmadilloFromHell 08:41, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

I changed the wording, but that did not work for some. So, I just forgot about it. Asher Heimermann 09:14, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

FAR

Hi, Gzkn. I was wondering if I could interest you in adding {{User:Tony1/FAR urgents}} Tony's urgent FAR template to your worklist, to comment on and help us clear out the FARs that don't have consensus for keep or removal? Best, Sandy (Talk) 15:50, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Use of fair use images outside of article namespace

Hello! You have used fair use images in your user namespace (Image:Amhalldz.jpg, Image:Vacation2.jpg, Image:Breakfastclubhall.jpg, Image:Piratessiliconvalley.jpg and Image:Deadzonedvd.jpg in User:Gzkn/Sandbox/Anthony Michael Hall). Criterion 9 of the Misplaced Pages:Fair use criteria states that "Fair use images may be used only in the article namespace. Used outside article space, they are not covered under the fair use doctrine." If you wish to create a temporary page in order to improve the article on Anthony Michael Hall my suggestion would be to create a temporary page (for instance under Talk:Anthony Michael Hall/temp). Once you have finished experimenting with the temporary page you can request a deletion at Misplaced Pages:Miscellany for deletion. However if you wish to see what your changes will look like before you save the best way is to use the "Show preview" button when you are editing the article. Sincerely, --Oden 05:39, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi there. Thank you for your input. We have changed the article to deal with your concern and I hope you will be able to support this nomination. Thank you. TimVickers 17:23, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Merge help

I'm currently proposing a merger of List of Harvard University people and Notable non-graduate alumni of Harvard. Five days have elapsed with no one objecting (or even commenting for that matter), and according to one sentence in WP:MERGE, I may perform the merger ("After sufficient time has elapsed to generate consensus or silence (at least 5 days), you may perform the merger or request that someone else do so."). However, further down I see this:

"After proposing the merger, place your reasons on the talk page and check back in a couple of weeks for a response. You may be able to invoke a response by contacting some of the major or most-recent contributors via their respective talk-pages. If there is clear agreement after two weeks that the articles should be merged (or no response after four weeks), proceed with the merger."

Which one is it? Five days, or four weeks? (Four weeks seems pretty long to me.) I also asked this on Misplaced Pages talk:Merging and moving pages, but I noticed that many of the other questions seem to go unanswered there... Many thanks! Gzkn 05:18, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

WP:MERGE is just a guideline, if you are confident that the merge is a good idea 5 days is probably fine.--Commander Keane 05:28, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

SpongeBob SquarePants

You reverted my edits which were correcting the episode list.

You put that Chimps Ahoy was the first part of episode 70, when in fact it was the second. I saw conflicting info on the episode list and This Page, so I checked around and found that the episode list is right (). I changed the article to the correct way. Also you took the thing off the bottom of the page used to go from one episode to the next.Mwutz 13:17, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Obama NOR

Hi Gzkn..since a Chicago newspaper columnist published this controversy..doesn't that reduce the NOR claim? Someone somewhere has to do original analysis. Since this was in a published and much repeated citation, wouldn't that qualify as NOR? How could there ever be a controversy if no one ever did analysis of a candidates claims? --Jbpo 21:45, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

List of Harvard University people

I'm unfortunately too busy these days to really do much with the article list of Harvard University people. Your proposals sound good though, and I wish you good luck working on the article. Happy editing! —Lowellian (reply) 23:39, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Orngjce223 (talk · contribs)

This editor posted on Asher's talk page about adopting him, and at first I thought "great!". But then I took a look at his user contributions. Something smells fishy about him... Gzkn 01:50, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Hmm. If nothing else, it's strange that someone with such limited experience here would want to adopt a user...and I don't see how someone with two (I think) mainspace edits is even slightly qualified to adopt a user. -- Jim Douglas (contribs) 01:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

I appreciate the kind words. I've been using Misplaced Pages for well over two years now and recently got fed up with how often people try to take away from what's an amazing resource. Rather than write or expand articles significantly, I figured I'd give the smarter/more knowledgable people a chance to do that while I fended off vandals. Seems like a win-win. :) CiTrusD 04:49, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Greetings Gzkn

Hi Gzkn. I'm a novice contributor who recently initiated the page Antediluvian Rocking Horse. I notice you recommended the page for deletion. As a frequent and avid wikipedia user, I think this content is worthy of inclusion. But, as a newbie, I could, of course, be horriby wrong! I'd be so grateful if you could tell me where I went wrong and how I might improve the quality of the article. Have a great day - or night! Gentrification

Sorry about that, I thought that the page had been almost deleted, so I reverted to restore it... That "delete" (where it says that there is no article for "Gentrification" might have been caused by wikipedia loading error.GoldDragon 03:34, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Warning templates

You gave Iandoh2 a {{test1}} for editing Template:X5, saying "Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do" - um, Template:X5 is a sandbox :-). Of course, he removed the line saying 'please do not remove this line', but if you want to warn him about that then {{test1}} is just going to be confusing. --Sam Blanning 13:20, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Closing XfDs

When closing an XfD where the actions was carried out by someone else, it's always good to make that explicit.
152.91.9.144 06:52, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

It doesn't happen often enough for a de facto standard to emerge, so the text you proposed would be fine. I'd tend to provide the link to the log as well, and a note on the closer's page telling them that you've done so. (That's if they are a new adimn or don't close too many XfDs, there's no point reminding someone who has simply forgotten because they already closed forty that day.)
152.91.9.144 07:02, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Whoops sorry about the xfD's

I was clearing out the CAT:CSD backlog, we had over 200 articles on it. Sorry if I speedied somethings and forgot to check for the afd. Thanks for telling me though. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 07:43, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Repost speedies

Hi there. You nominated pirate metal for speedy deletion as a repost. However, it was previously deleted as an improbable redirect, and not per an XfD discussion. If you read the current text of the repost criterion, you'll note that WP:CSD#G4 only applies to pages deleted in XfD. Let me know if you have any questions. -- SCZenz 02:42, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Actually, you were right and I was wrong. The confusion is due to the AfD deleting Pirate metal, and the current article being Pirate Metal (note capitalization). Your tagging was correct; I'd go ahead and delete now, but I don't have time to close the AfD properly at the moment (which I ought to do if I delete the article). Sorry about that. -- SCZenz 03:29, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Serial Experiments Lain

Hi! I see you don't mind copy edit requests, and I read that you're real good at it. Serial Experiments Lain is not yet of excellent quality, but it's going through FAC, and its prose is the main grief held against it. Would you mind having a look to see how it can improve? That would be most appreciated.--82.151.87.22 12:35, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about the unsigned comment. Yes, that was me. Seeing the work you're putting in Peter Jennings, it's no wonder you can't help! Thanks anyway. Would you by any chance know someone who could be interested in the subject, with some copyedit experience? Lain is quite an obscure subject, and only Deckiller went through it for now.--SidiLemine 11:58, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Hit the Ice (film)

I see that you added a request that the trivia section be "cleaned up". Could you elaborate as to why you think it needs cleaning? There are only 5 pieces of trivia, and none of them belong in the only other section on the page (Plot). Where do you suggest that it goes? To start a new section for only 1 item, ie: moving the Raiders of the Lost Ark comment to another area such as "Cultural References" or something similiar seems ridiculous for only one item. Please cite some reasons or reevaluate your secision to put the Cleanup tag. Donaldd23 23:44, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

El Greco

Thanks! Could you possibly check the last paragraph of "Early years and family" that I rewrote for any prose deficiencies. Oh! And what is IRC?! (As you may have realized, I have a problem with cut words!)--Yannismarou 07:32, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Regarding edits on Venus (band)

Hello, I actually created the page and wrote everything for it and I was deciding whether or not to add the links to label websites at the bottom for the album checklist. Kal 12:56, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your quick response. No trouble at all as their weren't any changes made I just thought I'd point out the mistake. In addition, keep up the good work on your Wiki patrol in keeping vandalism off of articles. Kal 13:15, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
I forgot to mention that if you are on patrol could you please see that this IP - 194.158.74.3 does not edit my user page any longer? I believe that is strictly forbidden with the exception of admin control. Kal 13:22, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Anti-vandal toolset?

Wow, you're sure fast when you're on anti-vandal duty. What tools do you use? dpotter 02:09, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I use Lupin's anti-vandal tool. It's pretty amazing. There's also vandal proof, but for some reason, it doesn't work for me... Gzkn 02:12, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I've been using Vandal Fighter 3, with Lupin's popups for reverts. It's great, except that I'm forever manually dropping warnings templates onto vandal userpages, and I'd like to find a way to automate that. You're so fast, I am guessing you may have found some automation for that. dpotter 02:18, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Feminism Vandal

I went ahead and reported him to WP:AIAV now that he violated the final warning.

By the way, do you know if 3RR applies to us in cases like this? The edits are definitely POV and quite possibly trolling, but not blatant vandalism. – Lantoka (talk) 13:49, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I am really surprised that nobody thinks feminism is subject to vandalism - today has broken all records there. It is not lost on me that feminism was born out of abusive behaviour by males, and the feminism article has been the continual target of hate edits. I'm rapidly developing a zero tolerance for vandals. --Mgoodyear 21:50, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, unfortunately most of today's vandalism was probably by a single vandal, which doesn't help our case for semi-protection. – Lantoka (talk) 22:00, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Moral horificies on Misplaced Pages

Dear GZKN

I am very cross with you. I am not in the habit of being reverted. That was an obscenity I removed from that page (I cannot bring myself to name it) your reversion of my prudent edit was an affront. That may be how you behave in your part of the world, but let me tell you, it is not how we behave in Mississippi. The world is a beautiful place, and young children not to mention "Our Lord" do not want to read about unseemly bodily functions whilst researching their assignments. Now please remove the offensive material at once. Thank you!

Sincerely yours
