This non-free media file should be replaced with a smaller version to comply with Misplaced Pages's non-free content policy and United States copyright law. According to Misplaced Pages's policy for non-free content, the amount of copyrighted work used under fair use should be as little as possible. In particular, non-free media on Misplaced Pages should not be usable as substitutes for the original work. A high-resolution non-free image is questionable fair use and may be deleted per Misplaced Pages's copyright policy.
In most cases, this reduction will occur automatically: simply wait a while and a bot will resize the image file according to the guideline at WP:IMAGERES. When an automatic reduction does not occur or a manual reduction is desired, the size of an image may be reduced in an image editing program or by saving and re-uploading a suitably sized thumbnail. Once a reduced version of this file has been uploaded: Please replace this template with {{subst:orphaned non-free revisions}} (through source edit) or {{orphaned non-free revisions|date=5 January 2025}} (through VisualEditor or Twinkle).Fair usetrue |

I don't know. I'm not completely confident. I suppose you could put it in a book or on a postcard and sell the book or postcard. But, see below, it's quite unlikely that the image is still under copyright, being probably made in the 19th century and taken from some historical archive. It never had any kind of "market role". It was presumably either a family portrait or made by the CSA Army or something.
I'm describing it as "not free" because I'm not 100% stone sure that it is. Just being on the safe side. |
Other information | The subject of the photograph has been deceased since: 1889 Yes, it's probably not under copyright since it was very likely made before 1889 (it could be a later drawing taken from a photograph tho). It was uploaded to Find-A-Grave by one JM Herman: https://www.findagrave.com/user/profile/47972443. I assume he dug it out some archive somewhere. |
